The system is designed to keep members on edge. Repentance and forgiveness circle around one another like binary dwarf stars. Guilt and embarrassment are social drivers. Conformity is the answer to every problem. Absolute obedience is demanded, and they don't hide the fact.
That brings up one of my favorite WTF Q's--if we're with God in the Pre-Existence (which seems like it should be Heaven, because...well...you know...GOD is there, literally, as our Father), there's where exactly is....uhhh....HEAVEN!?
And, when people talk about "I knew Grandpa was calling to Grandma when she was on her death bed" or "Bobby was so faithful that he got terminal cancer and he's a missionary in the Spirit World now"; are they really floating around in the Spirit World visiting with a million relatives while checking on their still-on-Earth relatives, or are they dead dead dead, waiting for resurrection so they can live on the giant crystal planet?
Quite frankly, on my computer monitor, a lot of that was too small to read, but considering it's mormonism, which has so much fine print, I guess that's appropriate...
