I had a former bishop contact me about 5 years after I left. Same kind of "just felt like I should get in touch" start. Then...an invitation to his home to check out a "financial opportunity you just can't pass up."
Yep, Amway. I smelled it during the phone call. And never went ;)
Very same thing happened to me. He was a pilot, and then "changed careers" to became a (so-called) financial advisor. Called me out of the blue years later with "a wonderful opportunity."
"Paul, my brother, you don't know me, but I've had this amazing business opportunity come my way! I'm building a solid core of investors who'll see amazing returns on capital....what's that Paul? Hey, no need to get angry; besides, that's anatomically impossible!" The Boner Speeketh.
Utah is the scam capital of America. The cult has a policy no one can use the church's member's phone lists for solicitation. Any LDS financial advisors or investors are trying to seduce you into a scam. Call him to repentance big-time, and then hang up. Block his number. Call LDS headquarters and file a complaint.
