Lately, I have noticed that there are a lot of words I don't use at all, or use rarely since leaving the LDS Church.
Mormonism has a vocabulary specific to the religion. Some words were made up by Joseph Smith Jr, and some found their way into the culture through the generations of members and the remnants of their language, especially from the Mid-West as they made their trek across the US.
I was wracking my brain today for the word: discernment. That got me thinking about words I don't use much anymore like: Sister____, Brother____, inspiration, Bishop, meetings, Sacrament, hymns, worthy, obedience, laws, commandments, missions, Elder, President, Fireside, speakers, talks, callings, blessings, special, sweet, modesty, jello, funeral potatoes, confession, tithing, temple, recommend, .....
That's just flowed off the top of my head.
What is on your list?
