"Honesty" there? The linked article begins, "It's long been associated with anger and coarseness but profanity can have another, more positive connotation. Psychologists have learned that people who frequently curse are being more honest."
Yeah, and waiving a loaded gun around or discharging it into the wall *can be* cathartic and "honest"...but should it be encouraged or condoned? Is swearing, then, just a neutral implement...like a knife (can kill...or perform surgery)? or what have you?
If swearing lets one express more "honest" feelings, what about its effect on others? Or don't they matter?
