The new chapel was built on top of a hill. Only one side was level. The other two sides of the building had stairs and wheelchair ramps. It was no surprise that the bulk of the ward preferred the hilltop parking lot, but that left the elderly left to negotiate the stairs. Finally, the BP had to request that members be mindful and use side parking. The entire BP was already parking in the lower lot. Moreover, orange "reminder" cones had to be set. That's where I came into the story. I was the ward clerk that was now assigned to monitor parking at the church.
On the first Sunday, it was a complete disaster. People continued to park as before. In fact, all 8 parking cones were firmly wedged under a mixture of sedans and mini vans. When I told the BP, he sighed then admonished me to find a broom handle to dig out the brand new cones.
I will have to finish this story later. I'm at the dentist.
