Haha, haven't heard that since my mish in Argentina, '73-'75.

Those named Smith never were related to Joe. Anderson was a very popular name among mormons, also, Christianson, Hardy, and Allred.

In fact, I didn't even think that name.

Jensen, Johnson, Thompson. So many others. I don't know many Smiths. I used to babysit some Smiths. They were Boyd's nieces and nephews.

I would have guessed Anderson or Taylor. There are four of each in the ward here. There are two Smith families in the stake.

Christensen, Jensen. Possibly Snow.

I would say Jessop, but I would say that name is more popular among the Fundamentalist groups, and they're not just in Utah.

But I can see what you mean. I know more Parkinsons (my married name) than Smiths.

My wife is a Christensen, descended from pioneer OCC Christensen. She's also a cousin of Howard Hunter. Are you related?

I was never much into genealogy and my parents are dead now. I never heard those names, but who knows.

I'm loving that several states have Hispanic/Latino names as the most prevalent. No wonder white nationalists have their panties/garmies in such a wad.

There seem to be a lot of Madsens in central Utah, but I don't know about the rest of the state.

The most popular last name right now is Monson because its the last name of the most holy and awesome spiritual leader on the planet right now. This great holy prophet who is such a magnificent Seer and mighty Revelator has such super incredible spiritual powers that just make us stand all super amazed :) What I love most is knowing that our wondrous Church's credibility so marvelously rests upon its foundation of being a true church, i.e. a church that goes the extra mile on being as honest, truthful, and transparent as possible. If it wasn't so true then people would rightly say I'm a clueless idiot and the Church is a fraud. But with it being true then Monson is no doubt the most awesome last name in Utah right now and whenever we say his name its with the utmost reverence that has us all in awe.

Smith and/or Johnson are among the most popular in 47 states.
Utah is not unique in that regard.
