Dave, I can't always tell when you are being snarky.

Having survived one horrendous flood in Louisiana, I can state with certainty that kayaks - or small rowboats - would be VERY useful in flooded areas. We had to borrow a small rowboat just to reach our house from the main road. We had to leave the car in a higher area, and row to access the house.
