I wouldn't know. I rarely consume more than 8 or 9 cups a day.

Here's the thing:
I'd drink it even if it *weren't* one of the healthiest drinks in the world.

:)

Is it still healthy when blended to a smooth, cold, delicious consistency with ice, milk, chocolate syrup and perhaps a small scoop of ice cream?

I had to quit drinking this healthy drink because it was ripping my gut apart. Tea, too. I only miss the tea.

I think you get a free package of covfefe when you buy the "USA 45" hat.

Funny. If someone showed studies saying Mormonism is good for your health, they would be torn apart.

I watched half the video, but several problems.

First, as anyone graduating from elementary school should have learned, correlation is not causation. Maybe coffee drinkers have other habits that make for good health.

Then the coffee itself may not be beneficial, but it might displace other food/drink that would cause harm. It stated that there is less diabetes type 2 in coffee drinkers. Probably because they aren't drinking as much soda or other sugary drinks. How about a study comparing coffee drinkers, water drinkers and soda drinkers.

Then there is the philosophical question - should we rely on mind-altering chemicals? If caffeine aids memory, why not start giving to little children when they start school?

And why go to bed early when you can just get a buzz in the morning?

And what happens when you get separated from you coffee? Will you be able to function?

Young guy I know decided he would quit coffee. Said he had bad headaches.

Anyway, guess I'm out of touch. I drink my well water, before and after I run it through a cow. Guess I'll be dead before I know it.

@Free Man, If you knew anything about coffee (which you apparently dont) then you would know that people typically put large amounts of sugar in coffee because coffee doesnt taste good by itself. Even with all that sugar it still reduces risk of diabetes.

Plus your statement about coffee being bad because somehow one day you might not have any is stupid. Something cant be bad for you because you DONT HAVE IT. That is like saying your heart medication is bad for you because if you dont take it then you will have a heart attack. What?

You are out of touch... with reality.

Perish the thought!
I don't add any sugar. Or milk. And I think it tastes amazing by itself. The stronger the better :)

@ificouldhietokolob - If you like the taste of dirt then you dont need to sweeten your coffee. Most people use sugar and sweeteners though.

If it was a properly-conducted study, they wouldn't.

The studies that demonstrate benefits of coffee control for that. But clearly you didn't actually look any of them up or read them...

That's controlled for in the studies as well. See above.

Again, instead of speculating and making things up, why don't you go read the studies? The "benefit" regarding diabetes occurred even in people with high "sugary drink" consumption (just not as much).

> coffee drinkers, water drinkers and soda

All of the studies involved have different groups (and control groups) that do just such things. Once more: go read them.

Fruit contains "mind-altering chemicals." So do vegetables. So does meat. Guess you shouldn't eat any of those, huh? Oh, wait...

> If

Because even more reliable studies show the side effects are minor and manageable for adults, but are more problematic for children. Adults can make informed, adult, personal choices about whether the benefits outweigh any side effects -- children can't.

> And why go to bed early when you can just get a
> buzz in the morning?

Because not getting enough sleep causes lots of other problems, none of which ingesting massive amounts of caffeine help with. Something else well-documented in studies.

> And what happens when you get separated from you
> coffee? Will you be able to function?

There are known withdrawl symptoms if you're a regular user. They're usually quite minor, and don't impede "function." Which are well-documented in well-controlled studies.

> Young guy I know decided he would quit coffee.
> Said he had bad headaches.

If you can't function with a headache, you've got worse issues than coffee. And the headaches, if they occur, typically go away in a few days. Not a big deal.

Just not very well informed, and apparently not very enthusiastic about becoming that way.
Your choice -- but your rant was a little silly seeing as how all of the information you seem to think is lacking is readily and easily available.

Let's try that again

To say coffee is one of the healthiest drinks in the world is to say that nutrition from beverages is a terrible practice in general. Because coffee just isn't particularly nutritious. And once you start adding all the cream and sugar it's not that good. And it's diuretic effect is not helpful in general.
