In the many trips I made between SLC and Las Vegas, during 17 years of living there, I always swore I would stop and see that site, and of course never did.
I think I'm like many mo's and ex mo's and have no idea of the gravity of what happened. I need to read a good book about it.
I will have a personal 'moment of silence' :( As to book suggestions, one of the most chilling descriptions I've read was in John D Lee's book but don't recall the name of it offhand.
Edit to add: The book title is Mormonism Unveiled by John D. Lee. I've found this one to have the most thorough examination of MMM of several other books I've read that include discussion of MMM.

It is an interesting coincidence that it occurred on Sept. 11.
I read somewhere that the MMM was the largest slaughter of white civilians until the Oklahoma City bombing.
It is creepy that the leaders had a prayer circle like is done in the temple just before the killing began. That alone settles the question of whether the leaders did it as an act of religious obedience as opposed to following military orders like the church has implied in the past.
