God himself telling me to my face that He commanded Joseph Smith and Brigham Young to have those dirty, nasty, filthy affairs with their followers teenage daughters and their wives and explaining how that was in keeping with his law.

Not me i would be totally against god still. I want to have higher morals in the end.

I think you're missing the point on the status of truth. If God were to tell you that the Mormon Gospel were true and that Joseph and Brigham were asshats what would you do?

I'm thoroughly convinced that Mormonism is fiction and secondarily that the fiction gave birth to some of the most heinous actions possible by it's leaders. The rape, murder, bigotry, hatred, and overall horribleness that has been birthed by that fiction is only proof of the fiction. It isn't the source of the fiction.

My question that I ask myself in this scenario is, what would god have to do to convince me that it was god? God would have to pretty damned convincing on it's own existence before I would get to asking such unimportant and mundane questions like who was a bigger dick Joseph or Brigham.

Hardly a god worth my time and worship.

In my case, I like to think only a full lobotomy would do the trick.
