I guess the Nephites were chillin' in surf country. Hey the carbon dating puts this a couple thousand years off, but, you know....silly details...

The current (not yet verified) dating puts them before the Spanish established the nearby San Diego de Alcala mission, but well after the Spanish were already in what is now Mexico (more than 100 years after).

So there's no need to speculate that these were "native" animals. They came from the Spanish. Then either escaped or were set free, or were the offspring of escaped animals.

And, yeah, still no horses in the Americas from 600 BCE to 1500 BCE. Oops.

Aw, c'mon...

Now how can I tell my kids that Nephi didn't take *his* kids to Legoland!?

Next attraction at Legoland, Carlsbad:

Nephite city destroyed by earthquake when Jesus visited the Americas! Made entirely out of Lego bricks, and complete with Nephite swords, chariots, horses, and cureloms!

:)

Well, maybe not.

They did have their fifteen minutes--more than most of us will ever get.
