Mrs. Bednar only knows her husband as "father." He's a jerk. Hence the "hellfire and brimstone" comment.
Mr. Bednar's reply to the kid asking the question was classic mormon -- make fun of "whiny" young men who just gave up two years of their lives for your cult. It's their fault the MTC isn't good enough, not the MTC's fault.
I hope she knew what she was signing up for when she married him. He is so arrogant and full of himself, I don't think I could put up him for more than a minute or two. Listening to him pontificate for, say, 20 minutes in a church meeting would probably give me an ER-class migraine.
Personal knowledge: when she married him, she thought he was going to grow up to be an academic type. He was in the bishopric of my student ward at BYU many years ago, when he was in grad school (Organizational Behavior). I was his home teacher.
On a down note, he fully intended to interrogate his kids about masturbation and report his findings to their bishop.
What an arrogant little prick.Of all the GAs he is by far the worst. I cannot stand this little fuckstick .If he ever becomes President it should cause even TBMs to leave in droves .Guess there is a silver lining

Some women marry versions of their fathers. Perhaps her own father was just as evil as the pickle. If she has any sons, they may have been raised to be mean fathers as well.
She probably views her god as being all hellfire and brimstone as well. What a sad outlook on life and afterlife.
