I notice Will Bagley isn't among them. What does that tell you.

Director and writer Eric Young - any relation to Brigham?

Again, they can't tell the full story truthfully. The film is obviously a product of Church with a lot of missing detail that would give a balanced and accurate recital of events.

Film narrator:"The Mormons leader and prophet Joseph Smith Jr. was considered to be a threat to the well being of the residents of Illinois. He was also the revered leader of the largest and fastest growing city in Illinois. His popularity and power among his own people was intimidating to the long time residents of the area who hoped the Mormon leader would be taken out of power." Lyman Hafen then continues with "and as a result of that he was arrested and his brother Hyrum as well and other leaders of the church were incarcerated at Carthage jail and while they were held there they were promised that they would be safe." Narrator: An angry mob that could not wait for the process of justice stormed the cell where Joseph and Hyrum waited." Lyman Hafen again continues "A mob gathered around the jail and worked itself up to the point where they broke into the cell and both Joseph and his brother Hyrum were shot and killed in "cold blood". And what a tragic and terrible and sorrowful and sad time that was for Nauvoo when the prophet and his brother were killed and Joseph and Hyrum were enshrined as martyrs."

Funny how there was no mention of the destruction of the printing press that produced the Nauvoo Expositor which is the reason for their incarceration. Its oozing with apologetic spin. There is so much that is lop-sided about this presentation.

It's also interesting to note that the "comments" option has been disabled. I wonder why.

It may be "cobbled together" via some sophisticated video editing, but as evidence, Stuart Udall passed away in 2007 (John D. Lee and Jacob Hamblin were his g-g-grandparents). Udall was a sharp individual and his comments about how a "deal was struck" at Lee's second trial are noteworthy.

Note they're claiming Joseph and Hyrum were murdered in cold blood; no mention of the destruction of the Nauvoo Expositor or the fact that both were armed when the mob stormed the Carthage Jail.

And of course they have to "pin the blame" on John D. Lee and Isaac; the "ranking member" of the Nauvoo Legion in that area was William Dame; Lee's "Confessions" presents him as a cowardly sort, but if Dame is implicated, then Brigham Young's guilt is obvious as well.

Anybody know who the bald-headed speaker with the beard is? I see all the rest are LDS "apologist" sorts, and the claim that the Indians launched the initial attack is a flat-out lie.

Per Will Bagley: The initial volley killed or seriously wounded most of the adult males in the Fancher-Baker train; the Indians had perhaps five firearms among all of the various bands in Southern Utah while the Mormons were expert marksmen.

Of course some of the other YouTube videos offered by an individual calling himself "Mountain Meadows Mormonism" are equally assinine in a different way. We're told it was a "Masonic Conspiracy" which is laughable because some of the Fancher train members were freemasons, but supposedly so were the Mormons. Claims like that give me gas.

Stuart Udall was part of JFK's dept of interior administration, as well as being a descendant of certain MMM players.

Udall's comments at the 1999 MMM commemorative were stunning in their depth and sensitivity to the issue, in huge contrast to the cheesy phony snarky shallow insensitive completely UNinspiring comments made by cheesy phony snarky shallow insensitive Gordon BS Hinckley.

at the event Udall appeared to be much more of an instrument of dignity and humanity if not the divine than crappy cheesy cabbage head Hinckley could ever ever hope to be.

He appears at the 5:45 mark...

This one contains another "repeat of LDS lies"; the claim is made that 200 Paiute Indians were involved in the first attack. The reality is that there were few if any present at the initial ambush. Some were, no doubt, but it was "pine nut season," and their oral tradition is they didn't participate.

That nonsense about "Missouri Wildcats" is also not born out by the historical facts; none of the F-B train was from Missouri.

I think the guy you are referring to is the narrator Marvin Payne who seems to try to come across as non-Mormon and neutral. I was also curious to know so looked him up to discover that he is also Mormon.

And whoops; my bad. I thought that was Stewart Udall, but the video identifies one historian as Lawrence Coates...

But seriously, one segment would have my grandfather spinning in his grave (he helped co-found the Utah Westerners, one of the premier history groups here that Will Bagley and David Bigler belong to). There's a segment with the Mormons "leading" the male members of the doomed train, obviously only moments before the mass killings.

Take a good look at the lever action rifles being carried... Some are Model 1894 Winchesters... In 1857 no less...
