...yah, I mean it is not like LDS Inc (a bunch of self interested old ASSpostHOLES maintaining a scam for their own benefit) and its MORmONISM has done any damage to me or anyone else at a personal level ......
Since Packer's unlamented passing, the remainder are just interchangeable old men at this point.
I still contend that Dallin Oaks is one to watch out for. He had a rep years ago of being a hard case. Not quite on Packer's level but closer to him than some of the others. He's also much younger than Nelson and likely to be around for a decade-plus.
The timing is nice. It will take some of the attention off of Orrin Hatch so he won't keep thinking how important he is to Utah. The church leaders always are more important at least here.
With very few exceptions, the new profit will retain his predecessor’s counselors. It’s not a requirement though. There have been a couple of exceptions to this unwritten rule.
I predict that Eyring and Uchtdorf will continue being in the FP.
I wonder who will be the next white guy from Utah that will be the new junior apostle. Come to think of it, there will be two vacancies.

Watching Monson decay was like watching my grandpa whither away from Alzheimer's. I took absolutely no pleasure in it and, regardless of what I thought of the man, am glad that he is at least not suffering anymore.
If the church wanted to actually seem like it is inspired, it would use this as the opportunity to break their line of succession (next oldest gets to run the circus for a while) and pick someone other than the 2-3 most likely turds to be the shot caller. Having no horse in the fight, I think it would be nice to see them pick Dieter to run the show, but he isn't from Utah and is probably too moderate for them, so that's out.
- Holland would get the TBM bro-dudes hot and bothered if he were president of the church. For whatever reason, TBM bro-dudes think Holland is a badass because he raises his voice sometimes. It'd be fun to see what type of white nonsense he would try to pass off as inspiration.
- Bednar seems like the second coming of Boyd and would get them back on a more hardline path. As an ex-mo, it would be fun watching some of the more moderate TBMs and recent converts struggle with their new prophet's venom.
Do you ever wonder what the royalty of the church think when they do enter those Pearly Gates and see that everyone is equal? The Mormon church is not the only church and that everyone has equal status in Heaven. What exactly do they think then?
It obviously came as no surprise to the other ten, since they had already asked of ghawd... This is obvious, in that they all had "Tuesday!" in the pool.
That puts Bednar how far away? 6 deaths away from being the single share holder of the corp of the first presidency? If all the Apostles are to return to their place by seniority, that leaves 3 or in this case 2 extra apostles. Do Ron and Dale ‘vote’ for the next prophet? It cannot be the Qiorum of the 14 Apostles unless it just happens in a twinkling of and eye..right? I feel sorry for Tommy and his family. But I cannot help but understand the ridicule for the office that comes at a time like this too.
I wonder what Nelson’s thing will be? Monson was all about a rescue of sorts. The Church marketing team probably already has his theme ready to roll out. My guess is that he will do something about strengthening and indoctrinating The Children more. After the apostasy and blood letting the church has had, they will want to make primary more militant to up the retention which will ultimately fail for them.ug
If I had to guess, based only on the 2 or 3 talks I've skimmed from Nelson, I would say the church is about to focus way more on outreach. Good news for us - might be the irritation some on the fence need to finally resign.
