Hi! I found it on another forum where they discussed how life was before internet. Many years old thread.

A guy wrote that he felt today that it only took a couple of minutes online everyday to notice that people where there to steal his breakfast and pass the sugar. Maybe he feel that there is bad energy stealing away a good start of the day?

The passing of the sugar I do not understad.. Sugar is not nourishing like a good breakfast?

It means someone is not that good with words. Being that vague is only of value when congressmen testify in hearings or a Mormon "prophet" speaks.

Native speaker of English who has never heard this phrase.

I almost wonder if it isn't an English phrase, but a phrase from a foreign language directly translated into English.

That makes some sense...

"Le ganaron hasta su desayuno y luego pidieron que les pasara el azucar..."

The tenor of that phrase is derogatory, talking about someone who'd been taken advantage of, or tricked out of stuff:

"They even won his breakfast and then asked him to pass the sugar."

But sufficient familiarity would have caused "won" to be replaced by a different verb. I say hand nevermoJohn the first place trophy!
