Ever been in a conversation with a Mormon who you thought was quite articulate but as you speak with them you find they have a somewhat limited vocabulary and a very very limited view of actual facts.

I'm not just referring to bible/BOM stuff but an actual non understanding of events that are happening in the world in the moment. And as you try to explain reality they get defensive. As if you have offended them buy simply pointing out facts.

It's like they are mentally challenged and hang on to what they think is correct as a security blanket.

Yes, but since they were missionaries, I cut them some slack...

You'd have to work very hard to maintain the "innocence" that missionaries have into real life.

Between what Mormons SAY and what they DO.

It's not just the Mormons but the simpletons in general. Some people just want to live in the Matrix, content with never knowing the reality of the world that surrounds them.

I wouldn't say it was just simpletons - many clever people cannot see past their own nose and cling to what some might call 'ridiculous' ideas and take personal offense at someone disagreeing with them, which is a rather immature behaviour response. Opposition is good in some respects, the world would be bland if everyone thought or felt the same and no one would ever grow emotionally or intelectually. Without opposition no-one would ever have to justify their own thoughts and feelings and so would never evaluate their own individual opinions, just continue to blindly identify with some group or other.

Unfortunately, taking offense and disliking someone because they hold a different opinion seems to be very fashionable behaviour at the moment, especially in the west. It is also a behaviour that certain groups in society adopt as a way to feel more secure in their corner of the world; the mormons are a prime example of this.

Mormons are very disconnected from other groups in society, but they let themselves get that way. Society needs to stop hating the eejits and start feeling sorry for them til they (said eejits) realise throwing their toys out their pram and screaming for mother gets them nowhere in the 'real' world except close to other babies screaming for their mother.
