That's better. Now Nightingale can sleep easier. :)
I had a laugh when I read the subject line on this thread, at a ridiculously early hour this morning. It was the first I heard of the alert, and I was trying to envision someone frantically trying to evacuate to higher ground, but just before they left, they decided to check in and see what was happening on RFM, and that's how they found out the alert was cancelled!
Well, it seemed funny when I was in a sleepy fog at 5:30 am. Carry on.
Ha. I was going to say. At first I thought "CA" referred to Canada. Then I remembered California. :P
In small communities along the coast they evacuated during the wee hours. Looked like they were having fun in the emergency shelter but they cheered lustily when the all clear sounded.
On the bright side, authorities say, they are pleased with how the emergency protocol went.
I was quite excited at first when a beach fairly near me was on the alert. I wanted to see the big waves. Then sanity prevailed. That is *exactly* what you're not supposed to do. Temptation is hard to resist.
Maybe we'll get serious someday here on the Wet ('n Wild) West Coast about the geographical realities in our zone (earthquakes, floods). Many of us are a bit naive about how interesting it all is. In theory maybe.
Yes, I will sleep well tonight. And looking forward to it. First a heavy wind storm over the weekend kept me up, then reading news about the evac alert. Life is busy! Sleep elusive.
California would probably be static or in decline if it weren't for the importation of new voters from Mexico. We'll see what happens after people start computing Trump's Blue-State Tax into their speadsheets. Bear in mind, I live in Taxachusetts!
Well, if we can just wait ‘till California snaps off its moorings, we can float out and just check Google Maps to see if we fell off. Some Nevada person can tie one end of a rope to his stubby little Joshua tree (I’ll tie the other end to my CA redwood), and if his tree snaps off suddenly, he’ll know we went over the edge, and ended up in Outer Darkness, and he can post it on RfM. (I read in the Ensign that OD has no cellular coverage unless our relatives pay another 5%.) :)
I was on an airplane headed for Seattle. Knew nothing about any of this until now.
I save myself a lot of worry by not watching the news.
I'm now lying on my sofa that resides in a house on an Island in Puget Sound. Nothing different than when I left a few days ago. Life goes on no matter the weather or the Earth shaking events. I prefer Earth quakes to war though.
