I want to know what will come my way once i finally resign. Will my family know immediately? Will the word spread fast? I think i am finally ready and it looks like they will no longer help me. This feels like a bigger deal than i ever thought it would be.

If your family lives in the same ward you do, they will likely find out rather quickly. If they are in the same ward or stake, I'd just assume they will find out within a couple of months, if not immediately.

My guess is within 2 weeks the word will be out that you have left the one and only true church.

This is what i figured. An entire ward that ignored me will onslaught me when they find out.

I resigned via Quit Mormon. It took a little longer, but as far as I can tell none of my friends in my former ward even know I officially quit.

Maybe i will go this route. Sounds like a better route to me.

"Re: Those are only a few mormon stalking tactics.

Well you do know best, but i still think it would not be smart to resign just yet, they have helped me with rent once and i think i can get them to help again until i have a set place to move to that is at least have the price i just have to wait for a vacancy.

I agree. Wait & resign when it suits your needs. (n/t)"

Take a deep breath and wait before you resign, let them pay February rent first.

Call the Relief Society President and ask for some groceries food from the bishop store house. Be very sweet on the phone to her and tell her about your medical situation and that you need some time to recover. Catch her with honey say very nice things that should make her want to help you.

Kinda depends on your circle of acquaintances and where you are.

It may be a big deal but not as big a deal as being a moron.

They'll probably learn about it right away and then not talk about it (with you) or lie about how or even deny they heard it.

As fast as it takes the bishop to gossip.

Unless you tell those you know, it shouldn't matter because you'll be out of their lives. And they'll be out of yours.

Tell them yourself. Then you will know precisely how and when they know.

In my case it took about 12 years for the family to find out, but they eventually did. They wouldn't say how they found out, which I found humorous.

Whenever I tell the Bishop anything in confidence I am so grateful to know that with few exceptions its going to be kept secret.

Of course he'll tell everyone in the Ward Council who in turn will each tell 10 friends who in turn will each tell 10 other friends and they'll all put it up on their Facebook news feeds.

But other than that it'll be kept secret. Thank goodness.

Yep, what else can mormons do besides gossip? Not a d@mn thing. They are not aloud to do anything else.

Be true to thyself. If the church is stressing you to the point of illness, you can count that it's not going to get better whatever you do and who knows. how's the surgery?

Recovery is going ok, i think i am 12 days out now. Still hurting but they said that was normal, was able to play cards for a little bit yesterday which is a good sign. It's a different kind of pain i feel now, like post surgery soreness which is very promising to me. I think the surgery may have worked. It might have actually f#cking worked but i don't want to say too much until the post-op pain is gone. I have made a lot of good changes as well like resigning and cutting that mental cord finally. The only problem now is i am not sure what to do financially. I have debt collectors calling me constantly on every day of the week and at all times of the day. It is pretty much my main issue now is my money issue.

I have heard BPs announce resignations over the pulpit, cautioning everyone not to have contact with the newly unclean

This could get very interesting if this happens.
