Have you ever noticed that church leaders and Mormons are often braggarts?
I was noticing this in the Church News, where, often, there is bragging about this or that (such as a missionary who survived being hit by a car). Also, I just read (in the CN), about Mormon athletes who have extra power to win an award in their field, as they obey the WOW, or whatever.
Doesn't the saying go, that if you are really successful, you don't have to brag about it yourself, because it is evident to others?

LOL!
But, really, who doesn't love a Pharisee?
To donbagley's point: In an MLM paradigm, you need customer testimonials to sell the product(s). In Mormonism MLM, it's tougher because it's an invisible product line, but all the same.
For the MORAL people, they understand that bragging is offensive and unnecessary as you said, pollythinks.
That's what we were told in Seminary when I was in HS. Don't have a testimony yet? Just pretend that you do. Say what you think you would say if you did have a testimony. Say the words you want to believe are true, like you already believe them. Keep doing that until you finally do believe them.
Um, isn't that lying? Apparently it's ok to lie when you're following instructions to brainwash yourself.

And that is why the BYU football team went undefeated (again), and added yet another national championship to their massive hoard, and why they are the envy of the NCAA. Oh, wait…
