If you are still mentally stuck in the 1950s, you're looking at the future. By then it will be treated as you would any other medical problem -- which in fact it is.

Surgery for small children and messing with puberty, just no. Puberty isn't just sexual development.

Not everyone who tries different stuff as a child. I tried lipstick, make up & my mother's clothing (and my dad's + razors!) yet in adulthood I don't consider myself anything but male.

There are a couple of cases of transgender kids who have wanted to revert... but you only really get one shot at adolescence. I think operations should only be for those who are old enough to make up their own minds without external influences...

These kids are much too young to make such a life-altering decision. I mean, we don’t allow them to smoke, drink, drive, vote, watch certain movies... but putting them on hormone therapy or even invasive surgery is okay at that age? Allow them to explore their gender preferences? Sure. Once they’re adults, if they want to change gender, sure. But “transgender kids” is just lunacy.
And keep in mind that at least 41% of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals attempt to commit suicide. These are children’s lives at stake and it’s sickening to see liberal mainstream media promoting it recklessly.

Assigned legal sex at birth won't mean the same thing as it does today.

Biological sex will mean about the same as your blood type does now.

Successful live births with transplanted uteri are now possible and a trans woman has successfully breastfed an infant.

It's also now possible to create human eggs and sperm from skin cells.

What are you going to do when people have transplanted or lab-grown ovaries, wombs, or penises? The plumbing you came with from the factory isn't going to matter much then.

Before the end of this century people are going to look back on your disdain and bigotry (yes, that's what it is) and *fear* as outmoded and unbelievable as people today think of racism.

Who knows what the future will bring? Maybe we'll be extinct or there will be a massive backlash against this.

Cynics might point out that going on about transgender an bathrooms is a nice distraction from the much bigger economic discrimination going on in society, where millions are in poverty and the rich pay few taxes.

It's a bit like the televangelists who always go on about sex, but are a bit quieter on what Jesus says about the rich and poor as that would reflect on them.

Personally, I would not want my kids or grand kids to look a freak like Caitlyn Jenner.

I certainly would not pay for it.

It is also deeply disturbing to see what Angelina Jolie is doing to her beautiful daughter with Brad Pitt.

What do they have to do with you? If they are all comfortable and happy, why is that "deeply disturbing" to you? Are you only happy when people do things your way and are miserable by doing so?

Imagine Caitlyn was born in 1989 or 1999 instead of 1949. At least she was wealthy enough to afford her surgeries. Things are different now.

Puberty blockers would have prevented the development of secondary sex charateristics making post-pubertal corrective surgery -- which is only partially possible -- unecessary.

New international and IOC rules allow trans athletes to compete after at least two years of hormone therapy and/or surgery.

She'd just be another female athelete.

More and more parents are acknowledging their children's gender and no longer attemping to "force" them to deny their idenity.

It still happens though.

Parents who wind up ejecting their trans kids from their homes and families think that somehow they will "return to their senses" but that rarely happens.

The statistics are grim.

Rejected trans kids face depression, suicide, and quite often wind up on the street and become trapped in the sex trade or substance abuse or both. The lucky ones find somewhere to go and try to make it through life as best they can. The unlucky ones are usually dead before age thirty. Even if they aren't homeless they still face extreme unemployment and social rejection in conservative areas. The statistics are even worse for trans women of colour.

Would you rather your granchildren be happy, healthy kids who will be productive young adults with a shot at life or would your rather see them wind up cold, hungry, selling their bodies for sex, hooked on drugs or dead before they have a chance to live?
