Say, Le March works. Say, they accept The Gays. Say, Dr. Dehlin can return to Elders Quorum and pontificate to his heart's desire.

Will you come back?

Those would be improvements but the scriptsure and the doctrine from those scriptures remain profane (of men) and not divine.

Indeed. Plus, there is still the $$$ problem, imo.

I do not personally care for the criminal foundation of the church. And, it is boring as all get out.

If the church admitted all the historical and doctrinal problems as well as all of the current errors in policy what would there be to go back too?

Yup.

There's nothing left but the "privilege" of being told what to do by a group of desiccated old men with a history of terrible judgment and even worse advice.

I'm not sure that product would sell well.

Exactly. What for? They’re not what they purported themselves to be, so there’s no point. It would be a complete waste of my time.

Profit sharing?

No, I literally mean a share of the profits. Imagine all the tithing you or I or others paid as investments. Were they to pay me back at the same rate of return they got on my money, would it be enough to justify my going back? If they paid it back at a lower rate (there are administration fees to cover for any retirement plan, you know), what's the minimum rate I'd consider sufficient to make me want to return?

Hmmm...interesting thought experiment.

I'd go back and sit in Sac meeting (only) if they paid me Mitt Romney's tithing every month. But no temple, no interviews, no callings and I get two Sundays a month off, and 25 sick days a year...

it's like being a parachute jumper. You start becoming extra-cautious about your safety rigging.

I decided to give up jumping out "in faith" altogether. I feel much safer.

People with personality disorders, particularly the Cluster B and Narcissistic disorders don't change 99% of the time. The same would apply groups with these disorders.

No matter how much they admit, or apologize for, or change in their policies--I don't see them changing their basic attitude towards women and apostates. I don't see them giving up their arrogant sense of superiority and entitlement. I certainly don't see the wealthy leaders ever giving up their power.

I don't see them stopping their abuse of children, though it might become more verbal, than physical. The Mormon abuse was physical against my sons and little girl. The cycle of abuse is hard to break, and I don't see that happening in my generation, or my children's, or my grandchildren's.

The bottom line is that, in my world, the cult will never clean up its act or admit to any real-life wrong doing.

Even if it did--the scars will always be there
Even if it did--it would still be a hoax cult
Even if it did--its purpose would still be to make money.

The Mormon cult has nothing to do with God or Christ--no matter how loudly it protests this.

This is how I feel as well, it's a cult that has absolutely nothing to do with Christ. After all, they never reschedule conference when it falls on Easter weekend.

Repentance means nothing without restitution.
I'd need a refund of all the tithes and offerings I made, compensation for wasting 240years on a fraudulent pyramid scheme, which would be no less pyramidal or fraudulent.

Hell no. I like thinking for myself, instead of having some rich old men do the thinking for me. I like knowing that my donations are going to a cause that genuinely helps those that need it (unlike tithing). Plus, I like wearing shorts and sleeveless dresses too much.
And I love my wine.

I've been watching an old CES type of photo slide- narration, and songs film called Gates of Zion (1978). Surprisingly, it's not overtly pious that correlation would later drive the church. It's a nice memory of what Mormonism used to be if you truly believed that members/leaders would help others in need.

The problem is that the church with its leaders and policies moved so far away from the simpler times. You can't go back to a grand lie.

No. I left because I reject it's foundational doctrines. IE temples and the ordinances.

Never mind Smith not being a prophet or the BoM is scripture.

It's all bull-puckie

That's Rediculous.
I only [come] "go" FORWARD.

Go BACK (to) [HELLo]? Time Travel is useless if you already know where you're going and when you're coming back... even if that would mean you would lose your direction, if not your mind.

That would be Spiritual, Intellectual, Mental, MORAL, and Social-Creativity Suicide, not to mention it would turn my art inside out - in other words, Squash, KILL, or Abolish IT -

Here's a question for you OPie.

Were you dead dunked, or baptised [LDSick] (without being TOLD/ taught anything CLOSE TO the [any] TRUTH) against your will, beyond your HONEST [FREE-Agency] choice, at 8, (bic?) by your parents/ parents/ family, PRESSURED by ldsINK, whatever, or WHAT?

Do you know much about torture?
Because you are taking about torture.

That's not nice.
Know what I mean?

They Not Only WON'T, but they CAN'T;

think of all the church-owned property suddenly om the market:

Do we think Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, or Gates - Allen would be interested?

What's the Second-Biggest enterprise in the IMW, would they be interested?

Those were none of the reasons I left, so no. I studied my out. I came to the conclusion Joseph Smith made it up, the Book of Mormon was a product of the 19th century, and God (if he even exists) had nothing to do with creating the Mormon religion.

So, no, there's no reason I'd want to go back. Though I'd probably attend something like a BBQ if a Mormon invited me.
