The guy seemed out of it, like he was either going to burst into tears or possibly keel over and die right there on the spot. He said something I didn't understand about "praying especially for those whose hands hang down." Does that expression have some meaning in LDS culture of which I'm not aware? I had no idea what he was talking about.

The Lord has commanded us to “succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees” (D&C 81:5).

You know. All the things the Mormon church never does but make a lovely thing to say in prayers.

It means weak, old, depressed, or tired. Comes from OT and repeated in D&C. Moses was so tired and old that they had to left his hands for him to do his preisthood magic. Help those types.
