So I saw this posted in Facebook by a friend. I recognized the person (as Jane Manning James) and decided to see was Ballard had to say about her. He uses her as an example of the church's early days and says something along the lines of "No matter the 'differences' in culture and nationality, they shared a testimony of the 'restored gospel of Jesus Christ" leaving out the fact that equality was not shared, and that Jane Manning James was sealed to Joseph Smith as a SERVANT, and when she passed away, Joseph testified that she became white in the next life (because of the "black skin is a curse/curse of Cain" that was taught back then). But that's LDS for you.
Feel free to read the comments. In one of the top comments, A commenter mentions Jane being sealed as a servant, and some of the other commenters adds in that TSCC is not open about their history. A mini-argument ensues where someone say, "Regardless, she was a blessed and faithful sister."
*Facepalms*
Anyway, here you go...
