I don't know why Mormons always say I have prayed and know that this church is true and I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet! Or i have prayed and know the book of Mormon is true. It is very annoying and I want to stay i have prayed over a candy bar and know it is true!

The church to some seems like a cute baby at first on the surface, they ask themselves "oh it can't be that bad." but it is. With time and thousands of dollars later that cute baby turns into a monster that is hard to get away from.

Probably because they doubt the truth of it and need some reinforcement...

Like a parrot, they are best trained from an early age

If they know it is true, why do they have to keep saying it? I know that the sun will rise tomorrow morning, but I have no need of announcing it each day. Mormons sound like they are trying to convince someone -- maybe even themselves.

And how do they know after prayer? Because they are told in D&C 9:8-9 that they will have a burning in their bosoms. And not the kind that many of us old people experience on a daily basis.

But they push that so hard and totally discount the rest of the scripture, where he was told that if it's not true there will be no burning and only a stupor of thought. When it hit me that all the times I'd prayed and begged the Lard to let me know it was true, all I got was the stupor. No burning, and I'd forget about it until the next time I was on my knees begging.

So wasn't that a clear sign of being told that it was NOT true? You know, according to scripture. Not talking about the real way to know it's not true, those pesky facts.

It was all a stupor to me after any prayer. I was stupified. I think i finally understand what that song 'stupified' truly means now.

Because for Mormons it shuts down any need to consider documented historical fact, changing doctrines and etc. It's like a child covering their ears and refusing to listen to something they don't want to hear.

Exactly.

It's a great conversation-ender.

It's like a parent telling a child, "It's so, because I SAID SO!" (This is considered to be very bad parenting, BTW)

Saying "God told me so," is one-up on everyone, even those bossy parents.

My ex-Mo cousin uses this line to shut-up the Mormons: "I prayed, and God told me the Mormon church is NOT true." It is hilarious, how dumbfounded this makes Mormons. There's no answer to that.

One can use this technique in other situations, such as, "God commanded me to be a polygamist."

Another similar favorite is, "The Devil made me do it." Mormons say, instead, "God made me do it" or "An angel with a flaming sword made me do it," and so on....

When the world greets your shit-for-brains "religion" with raucous laughter, a silly mantra helps drown it out (a little).

Think about what we all were taught as kids, and what we were told to do if/when you had any doubts about anything related to church.

As kids we were told at every opportunity to say "the church is true, etc." Forced to stand up at Testimony meetings and to repeat the words mom whispered in our ears or to read the words she wrote on a piece of paper.

Second, as teens/adults, we were told to pray about any and all doubts we had about anything related to church. Praying was supposed to always give us the right answer. And then the right answer is that "the church is true!" according to the leaders.

Imagine that...

Well, they don't have any *evidence* it's "true," so it's all they've got...

Yep and they close their ears to anything that offends them! I should offer them tea and say I know that the patriots in Boston knew that being free from England was true and throw the tea into Boston harbor! I know it is true

They equate feeling good about something with the idea that God is giving them confirmation that they are right.

They feel good about praying and they are expecting to feel good about the answer.

To me, the Mormon 'true' is more like, "Oh, it's true. I just know it is! I just know it."

Why would they want it to be true boner? The outcome seems horrible if it is played out for real.

Not if you're a priesthood-holding, temple-endowed, obedient, arrogant, non-thinking male.

If you're those things, and it were true, you'd get your own planet to rule, a bevy of resurrected wives to have resurrected sex with whenever you want, and a resurrected penis that supernaturally never won't perform. That appeals greatly to the types I mentioned :)

Because they are sold on the forever family deal. It's very comforting to know that when you lose a loved one, you don't really lose them.

For myself, it was always comforting to know that my eternity was all nicely sewed up into a package and I didn't have to think about it and wonder what, if anything, comes after this life. I already knew, or so I thought.

They have been programmed to use that phrase and feel comfort in thinking that it is the truth to a mormon.

Maintaining false beliefs despite superior evidence to the contrary is the very definition of delusional.

Maintaining belief in a God who is the same yesterday, today and forever while also believing that God used to curse entire entire races of people with dark skin is not only delusional, it is hateful.
Mormons should be completely discredited, censored and deplatformed for supporting publication and distribution of hateful 19th Century bogus myths, used to dehumanize 2 entire races of people to justify enslaving and murdering them.

I have started challenging my family on anti-mormon issues. They literally have a canned answer ready to go for every situation. Interesting.
