Just DO IT. If you are in a safe, stable environment to do so, just do it. People will be sad you left, or concerned, or even angry. In fact, the ones who love you the most may shut you out completely or accept your decision later on. You never know until it happens. If you have a spouse or kids, talk to them about it first.

For many members there is this want amongst the church, a want to please everyone with how faithful and loyal they are even if it means sacrificing their own happiness. Some are happy to be in the church, which is fine, but it may not be right for you.

You don't have to stay true to an organization. You don't have to believe in your parent's religion either.
If people are furious you left, let them be so. You can only control your feelings, and if your gut is screaming at you to get the hell out of ANY church, do it.

There are people who will accept your right and desire to leave.

If the bishop calls you in for a meeting, you don't have to go. You don't have to talk to missionaries or anyone for that matter. It is your right alone to leave.

Leaving showed me who really cared and who just pretended to care. It showed me how two-faced Mormonism is.

Exactly. When the chips are down, Mormons skip town.

Bad advice for minors and young adults living at home unless they are wanting potentially life altering consequences.

But that's Lazylizard's point. Having your own parents turn on you is life-altering at any age. The question is what's your personal level of cowardice and greed--by greed I mean trying to get people to do things for you under false pretenses (I'll pretend to believe so my parents will pay for...)

Having your parents turn on you in favor of a religion definitely affects you forever.

I think lazylizard covered the situation of, for instance, a young person living at home as the parents' dependent:

If you are in a safe, stable environment to do so, just do it.

She did NOT say "everyone" should up and leave per her advice.

A Mormon home is far from stable. Parents are doing death oaths for f#cks sake.

TRUE

You don't have to worship a culture that lies and takes, harms and fakes...

"You don't have to stay true to a [FALSE] organization."

"You don't have to believe in [the superstitions, hoaxes, mis-beliefs, cover-ups, retractions, redactions, additions, fabricating, lies, customs and practices of] your parent's religion either."

You can be FREE
You can be HAPPY
You can feel GREAT

You can act and feel natural, wonderful and ALIVE!
