I quit a few minutes after the elders were asked, "what's your testimony, why'd you come on your mission?"

My mind flew back 53 years ... Why did I go on a mission?

I think I know the answers, but none of them have to do with serving ghawd. My answers aren't bad answers, but they aren't the kind of answers that would earn me a shot at describing them in a general conference talk.

It's hard for me to grasp that an 18/19-year-old, born-and-raised-in-America male could have a good handle on the concept of saving souls.

I am now going to start asking that question when I meet up with elders and sisters...
