On the day of my grandfather's funeral, in Ogden, Utah (1972,) my siblings and I were playing @ a park near our grandparents home. When to our astonishment a ball of fire flew directly over our heads on a straight trajectory to wherever it was going. It originated somewhere in Montana to Wyoming then over Idaho before crossing the skies in Utah that clear blue day. Scientists and astronomers determined it may have landed somewhere in British Columbia or Alaska, but no one knows for sure where it started or where it ended.
Now I can joke that my grandpa rode out on a fireball. He made a grand departure. ;)
It was caught on film by a photographer flying over Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons (and was named "The Great Daylight Fireball") (It was 46 years ago to this day + 1, ie, Aug 20, 1972.)
