A year or so ago, I asked my Amazon Alexa how many wives Joseph Smith had. The answer I got was “Joseph Smith had 50 wives.”

I asked the same question today, and the response was “As far as I know, Joseph Smith has never been married.”

I wondered if Joseph Smith might just be too common of a name, so I asked “How many wives did the founder of the Mormon church, Joseph Smith, have?” The response I got was “This might answer your question: the Mormon Church was founded by Joseph Smith. As far as I know, Joseph Smith has never been married.”

I asked about Brigham Young and got “As far as I know, Brigham Young has never been married.”

Just to be sure this wasn’t some standard answer for all historical figures, I asked “How many wives did Ronald Regan have?” The answer was “Ronald Regan had two wives.” Of course, the former president didn’t have more than one wife at a time, but Alexa acknowledged both of his marriages. I tried other historical figures, and got correct responses every time.

The Mormon Gawd is all seeing and all powerful. He wants to keep sacred information from the unbelieving Gentiles.

The mormon gawd is so weak he can't even get the name of his own church right.

Alexa would not answer which church is the true church.

I wouldn't waste my time and money on amazon alexa. Just use google. But it would be funny to ask it what the missionary position was or what anal is or sex stuff.

I'm not too thrilled with Alexa either.

It's really just a fancy voice activated internet radio.

It can't access the Web and it's limited to content on Amazon (it seems to have some limited capability for Vimeo or Dailymotion but not YouTube).

If you like classical music, good luck. It can't find most classical pieces easily and the only way to really use it is to use a computer to make a special playlist on your Amazon account.

And it's not easy to get it to display the time and play something at the same time - :P

Saucie and I got something called an Insignia, sold by BestBuy. I wouldn't have bought it but it went on sale for more than half off. It's pretty big and really puts out the bass (and treble) and it links to google.

So now I'm at the cool table, yelling out, "Hey, Google, how come I love Saucie so much?"

The Google girl doesn't know, but she sounds enthusiastic about it.

The one drawback: I can be proven wrong very, very easily now.

Like Alexa or not, why did the answer change? A few months ago, JS had 50 wives, now it doesn’t know that he was ever married.

“It’s Official: Mormon Founder Had Up to 40 Wives”

by Laurie Goodstein
New York Times
10 November 2014

“Mormon leaders have acknowledged for the first time that the Church’s founder and prophet, Joseph Smith, portrayed in Church materials as a loyal partner to his loving spouse Emma, took as many as 40 wives, some already married and one only 14 years old.”

Oh, how fun!

Now, let’s have some real fun:

Ask Alexa how many people Gina Haspel personally tortured.

Mormon God likes to screw with people. We've all been victims.
