"You are left to your own devices to figure out what is going on with Joseph Smith and polygamy,” he said. “The next step is to figure out what that means theologically. What does it mean, for example, that the prophet of the restoration married 14-year-olds and other people’s wives?”
Of course no MORmON can answer that question honestly, so they just make up absurd lies, to cover for the sexual predator whose praises they sing.

Article linked in one above, attempting to answer the question, "Whats the difference between Joseph Smith and Warren Jeffs?"

From the article:

“Saints” is not for scholars or even sophisticated Mormons, said Patrick Mason, chair of Mormon studies at Claremont Graduate University. “This is for the person who has never picked up a book of church history or a volume of the Joseph Smith Papers Project — and is never going to.”

It’s for members whose only exposure to Latter-day Saint history is the fictionalized series “The Work and the Glory,” he said, “or for new members who live in Brazil or Ghana.”

In other words ... sigh A whitewash again.

Exactly. This is the book for willfully ignorant Mormons who:

-Are willing to spend their whole lives in the church without bothering to check anything externally

-Are looking for canned answers to support their world view

-Are gullible enough to think their church is going to give them uncensored cherry-picked versions of history

As I read the article, I began whistling a happy tune from Mary Poppins. You know, "A spoonful of sugar..."

And lo and behold, it's the very last sentence except the writer rewrote it.

This new series may have “sugarcoated Mormon history,” he said, “but it is still some powerful medicine.”

We all know how the church loathes being criticized for their 19th Century view of women's rights. So they added this piece about using pioneer women's diaries and journals.

Plus, Tait said, “some of our best sources are from women. Diaries, letters, autobiographies. Many of these women stayed with the church, came West, lived long lives and left behind great records.”

So in behalf of the faithful members that have donated their ancestor's personal journals to the church (for safe-keeping), where are their families' journals and diaries?

We've read here at RFM, that the church has been unable to locate them when requested.

Yes. Many women left records. Thankfully many of those records were not turned into the church for safe keeping. Many were published independently. Many others have been published over the years by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
