TBMs have stumbled across a great rhetorical weapon which they use behind closed doors against their enemies but then deny when their bs gets called out: everyone wants to look at porn and then feel easier about it by killing God.

Porn is the secret common denominator of all the enemies of the church. It’s the reason that prominent science and historical journals publish papers that sometimes contradict the church’s narrative: they want to look at porn. Porn is the reason gay people are gay. Porn is the reason trans people have dysphoria. Porn is generally the reason anyone apostatizes from the faith and the reason the whole world opposes the restored church of Jesus Christ.

The opposition couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the heaps of evidence against the church’s official narrative or the way its toxic culture breeds mental illness or the way such a discredited cult can’t leave anyone in its sphere of influence the alone. No, it’s the porn, and believing this makes the antimormon critics negligible.

They may have a point about the downside of porn, but as with coffee their radical demonization is worse than the original “problem”. It would be better to just forget about vices and concentrate on Buddy Christ.

This is an old old fall back. I read a talk by I think George Cannon from the early 1910s stating lust was the reason behind 80 percent of those leaving the church.
