“I have seen him changing in the last ten months,” said Sister Nelson. “It is as though he's been unleashed. He's free to finally do what he came to earth to do. … And also, he's free to follow through with things he's been concerned about but could never do. Now that he's president of [the Church], he can do those things.” From: https://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/latter-day-saint-prophet-wife-apostle-share-insights-global-ministry

Oh brother. Now he can finally tackle his pet project - stop-calling-us-mor[m]ons!!

How prophetic! How inspired! How miracaculous!

How ridiculous!

I read the article on church news site. Ice picture of her too. Russ says in interview big changes are coming so take your vitamins to keep up. I kid you not that is what he said. He is either sink the church or it with not be the church we all knew when we were growing up. Wendy says this is all from God. So what has been going on over the last 100 years or so. I can’t help it think somehow Wendy is doing more behind the scenes than we know. Or else this church is true and the prophets before Russ were slackers

The exercising of power is sexy. The ultimate aphrodisiac.

I, too, think Wendy is involved. I would blame the disinclination toward the term "Mormon" on her were it not for his GC talk long before she came into the picture.

How is everyone expected to believe God is the one dictating all of this change through Russ when God never uttered a peep about it to any of Russ's predecessors?

In my own lifetime I see the major changes starting with Hinckley in a big way -- the wave of mini-temple building, the denial and move away from weird historical minutiae into mainstreaming. Probably started before that with "correlation."

I think Benson was the last of the real old-time presidents.

it is just funny / rather ironic to see the concept of "real" MORmON come into play with something (MORmONISM) that has ALWAYS been based on utter phoniness and pretense.

So...when he wasn't the #1 guy, all the other presidency/apostle folks kept telling him to shut up about "don't call us mormons!" even though an apostle was concerned about it, just shut up and obey.

And now that he is the #1 guy, he gets to tell all the other presidency/apostle guys that he gets his way now, so nyah-nyah-nyah, the thinking has been done, shut up and obey.

Payback's a bitch.

His old foe is long dead. Everyone he works with is well trained to heel to the top dog. If it is a bitch, it must be Wendy for all those old coots.

Russell Nelson is now Prometheus Unbound, a superman without limits and 40 years younger. Wendy appears to be infatuated with the New Nelson.

I do wonder whether Russ feels he has to be an extra-special, extra-powerful, extra-terrestrial Prophet because he betrayed his Lord by never fulfilling a full-time mission.

The Lord of Kolob don't need no puny mission experience in his past. He has an iPad and dreams and a lover to keep his revelations flowing.

Well, god had to wait a couple thousand years to find a man with a simple enough mind and big enough ego that he would obey the voices in head and restore the true church.

Apparently this latest apostasy only lasted about 200 years until god found another suitable man to restore the truth about what to call his followers.

1st man god found suitable.
Young man and a rock in a hat.

2nd man god found suitable?
Old man and an iPad?

So comforting that with all the challenges and problems in the world old Nelson's priorities are administrative changes & to eradicate the word Mormon.

Nelson is just getting right with his god so we all can benefit from his Kokaubeam from Kolob.

I think this is a Freudian slip. What "little" things is he talking about? And where do these little things come from? Probably a little factory somewhere. I wonder if he drives really big truck.

Wirthlin was admitting that it is who you know not what you know or how much of a spiritual giant you are.

Reinstate polygamy so that he can have a foursome (Himself, Wendy, Wendy's girlfriend, and Cialis)?

I wonder if Wendy understands how disturbing this comment sounds.

It sounds like a terrorist about to ‘unleash’ a plague on an unsuspecting populace.

Anyone else who thought they could speak with God and receive revelations for everyone on earth would be diagnosed a scitzophrenic. This guy takes his power and authority quite seriously. I think they call this meglomania.

...and all-around Top Leader Guys, who were all specially anointed by Gawd, and...now that they're dead...he is unleashed, does that mean that they were wrong to leash him or that he is wrong to now do the things that he always wanted to do but was prevented from doing by God's previous inspired and duly anointed Top Prophet Guys? Or does that mean that the LDS Church is a confusing mess of man-made teachings that change whenever the men at the top change, just as would be expected?

It's really stupid to think that prior to 2018, God did not care that people used the "Mormon" nickname to refer to Mormons and Mormonism and all things related to the LDS religion, but from 2018 forward it really matters a lot. So either Nelson was wrong or the previous leaders who didn't care were wrong. They can't both be right.

“It is as though he's been unleashed [must be that 'freak-agency']. His pet, his wife, has released her pet. They pet.

He's free to finally do what he came to earth to do [What, quit mormonism?, wear a leash, think for himself (others?), or exercise (his body, mind and spirit)?] - he's free to follow through with things he's been concerned about but could never do [THINK?]. Now that he's president of [a low down, rotten corporation], he can do those things.”

Her delusions match his egotistical fearfulness and unkindness.

So, he couldn't do anything for 90 years [now he's (mis)leading the cult, and can FINALLY DO SOMETHING?]. Boy, won't Jesus be disappointed.

"...things he's been concerned about but could never do."

Is this in any way, shape, or form, anyone's definition of REVELATION?

Sorry, Nelson, across the eons of human existence, this is NOT how "revelation" works. Not according to the Bible, not according †o the Book of Mormon, not in any other scriptures.

To me, "fully restored" would mean polygamy.

Well, Nelson is already one-up on that.

He will stay on the leash, eternally, and forever and ever, since he can never take it off. That used to be called free-agency.

I listened to the six minute video. So what the hell has the church been doing if it wasn't fully restored?

The church I remember had some element of fun: ward picnics, roadshows, dance festivals, pageants and plays. It was okay to call yourself a Mormon too! And the church made some progress to be more inclusive of others until it started working hard against women and gays.
