Please accept this question as sacred.

If wearing garments protects a person from the wiles of Satan and his minions, why hasn't the only true church directed their faithful homeowners to cover their abodes with consecrated garments?

Logic seems to be lacking, and so, many may lose their faith in modern prophets if consistent protections are not encouraged for the faithful and the elect.

I can't imagine a husband or son viewing porn at the same time holy material is flapping at the window.

If President Nelson announces this as policy, would you return to the fold?

Serious answers only, please.

Or is my logic flawed?

As in the way a house looks when it's getting tented for termites? But this tent will be white with special markings?

Not too long ago a 'Priesthood Blessing' on a members house was discussed, but not in lessons.

At first it was only for members who had the property 'Free & Clear', but that was changed/relaxed.

Still practiced today?
I have no idea...

I have been to a few "home dedications".

I've also seen horse shoes over doorways, stars on outside of houses and hexagrams painted on barns.

The reason the garment is supposed to protect someone from Satan and minions is not so much that it's magical, but that it's suppose to remind the wearer of the covenants made.

So, yea, in that sense, with that understanding, your logic is flawed,

Oh please. In 2001 when I was getting out of the MTC, the first counselor in the MTC presidency repeated to me in an interview that story of Marriott being burned in a boat fire only up to the edges of his garments. Don't start with this crap about "they only believe it's a reminder of their covenants"; the belief that garments are actually, physically protective goes all the way up to the GAs.

Well, your experience was different from mine then. I was never taught that they were magical, but rather, a reminder. I went thru the late 80's

I smell a mormon business opportunity.

Garment House Paint.

A white and delightsome latex based outdoor paint that has been blessed by priesthood holders in the temple. It applies easily with a roller, brush, or sprayer and comes with all the masonic markings you need, with pictured instructions, of how and where to apply them.

Just wash and anoint your home and apply the Garment House Paint and markings. What could be easier?

Disclaimer: If your house washes out to sea, there is no guarantee that fish will not eat the roof and foundation, leaving only the protective paint and underlying structure. The same is true for fires.

How much more for Whole House protection?

covering roof, foundation, landscape (sink-holes, flooding) & out-buildings?

auto & truck paint also?

If your house remains worthy, it can have a second anointing. that will cover the roof, foundations, plumbing, electrical, etc.

...damn, you beat me to it.

"A high-solids polyester-reactive foam coating, applied by high-pressure airless sprayers, will totally coat your home with an impermeable barrier against anything Satanic, to include the internet-based rantings of RFM, which we know are corrosive, and have a preventative effect against the rantings of borderline psychotic apostates."

You'll need something to make the house magically invisible to "gentiles," too...after all, can't have the unwashed masses seeing the holy house garments!

That's where regular paint comes in, like clothing. Apply regular paint to cover the garment paint. Just apply it well so you don't leave any garment lines or any parts of the garment paint exposed.

I'm thinking invisible paint. Sort of like the emperor's new clothes.

You can cut your materials expenses with that product.

Psh. How much money would THAT make??

I guess you could get the parents to buy em...

Imagine showing up to kindergarten in a white union suit with funny markings at the breast, navel and thigh.

Decided & Agreed:

RfM & accepted cohorts will use tithing receipts as investments in this new opportunity;

Then, no more (holiday season) carping for donations!

commensurate opportunities for the appropriate individuals to sit on boards, receive a wealth of tax-free benefits, etc.

Start with a go-fund-me!

All in agreement, raise your (whatever) to the square/signify by the usual sign!!!!

Come to think of it, my ultra TBM neighbors across the street just painted their house white. Stark white. It's blinding. It looks terrible and sticks out like a sore thumb. Most houses around here are earth-toned. Now I'm wondering if this was intentional on their part...to appear more white and delightsome to the other TBMs.

Lovely homes that blend in with the surroundings are a thing of the past. Here in Utah, they build them to stand out. They call it the "wow-factor". Like their temples, these new houses are a blight on the neighborhood, and an insult to nature. They are overly tall, and block out the mountain and valley views. The first thing they do is tear down the existing house--and every tree and shrub on the land. Then, they pile up the dirt to make a hill to build the house on top of. They are built too close to the street. Often, all you see is a huge 3-4-car garage, with some towers, turrets, and cupulas on top of that.

Mormons like to stand out and be noticed, and their houses and temples reflect that "in-your-face" attitude. And their underwear.

They need to make garments for pets. When they go for a walk, everyone will notice them and say, "There goes a faithful member of ____whatever-you call it church. Just look at their sacred dog!

Sounds like great and spacious buildings to me! I live in CA and the Mormons around here are anything but humble people. It's all about keeping up with the Joneses (or Smiths! Ha).

Seriously, though, I think typical Mormons actually do an inside version of this. It's like there's a checklist of things to hang on the walls to keep the home temple/church like and to protect those inside from the evils of the world. The family proclamation. A picture of Jesus, usually the one where he's in red, but one of him with children or during the second coming are also acceptable. Lots and lots of temple pictures. Sometimes pictures of the first presidency. Scripture quotes. About 20 years ago, the "be attitudes" were popular (are they still?). Bonus points for scriptures and pictures of Christ and temples in the bathrooms that teenage boys use.

My daughter had a huge crush on a boy, and was at his house, meeting his family for the first time. She had to use the bathroom, and above the toilet was a picture of two boys. One was a young boy of about 13, and he was looking up in admiration to a young man dressed as a missionary. She started to laugh, and, on second glance noticed that the 13-year-old was her ex-boyfriend, who used to be a model. She burst out laughing--out loud--echoing in the bathroom. Everyone asked her what she had been laughing at, and she could not tell them. She married the boy, and 10 years later, last week, she redecorated that bathroom, and took down the poster, and showed it to me. Hilarious!!!!

I have GOT TO figure out a way to post photos on here!

They have: "prayers"

One size fits all! Big house, tiny house, no house...

My home [the world] wouldn't be caught dead in those things.
