I heard today from a Church building project manager, working at the COB, that with the two hour block that there is no longer a need to build more chapels. Resources and efforts are being diverted to temple building.

Seems everyone here already knew the real reason for the shortened meetings was to save money.

They should start having on-line meetings so people can attend church in the comfort of their own home. They have their own bread and water and it gets blessed by the teenage priest on your computer screen. You could click a link for your sustaining vote for the new bishop. No need to set foot in a chapel again. That way, you could have Oreo's instead of bread for the sacrament and no one would know.

Makes sense. With the Mormon church, you always have to follow the money. Temples are profit centers for the church, so that's where the church wants to invest its funds.

Temples my azz.

Their resources and efforts are being diverted into business ventures, they know full well that eventually the tithes will dry up.

Why would they build more temples when they just sit empty?
Or ward houses for that matter???
I think it’s all BS

it's all about money. They get more money (from the members) from a temple. Ward houses do not bring in revenue. They use up capital. You don't need to pay tithing to enter a ward building, but you do to enter a temple. So they build more temples, and spend vast amounts of time and effort telling the member that temple work is the most important part of religion.

Maybe BY and the gang back then really believed the Endowment was necessary theologically. None of the G-15 believes that today. It's all about revenue.

Sorry, not buying it. It may reduce the need to build more chapels, but new growth happens in places that have no chapels at all. New chapels have to be built in those places. In the mission field, often wards and branches are too widely separated to share buildings.

It is only about real-estate when it comes to spreading like a virus. To maintain their religion ruse they have to have believers. Their real-estate is physical proof of that fact. China is a perfect example. They rushed to get a temple in China. See! They have believers in China. Tons of Utah temples. See! They still have their Western stronghold.

Game of Celestial Thrones.
