MORmONs have a huge problem with gays but no problem singing praises of a real sex offender.

I know that my ex's record was not marked from when we were in the singles ward as there were never so many shocked people as there were in this ward when he left and they found out he is gay.

The bishop he had been ex.sec. to and his wife adored my ex (not divorced, but definitely my ex) and they've never gotten over it. I was rather shocked by my neighbor's reaction to gays. She really likes my ex (who lives here), but she talked about how gays choose the lifestyle. I informed her otherwise.

BUT I was told many times by the leaders being homosexual was associated with being a pedophile. Same thing. Just needs to be changed/controlled. Hell, the things they put us through.

This is what makes it so hard to be with family. I know the majority of Mormons think this way. The leaders make the note in the records and the scarlet letter trickles down from there. My family has never said anything like that to me, but I wonder what they really think of me being gay. It is very unsettling.

I do know what they think about porn. I was told that men who watch porn become pedophiles. Period. I tried to give an opposing point of view but the door on their thinking has been slammed closed. It made me alienate myself further from family.

I would guess anyone who had watched porn has a black mark by their name as well on the records.

This conversation came about as I was told a niece who returned from a mission at six months claiming health and then went to work and school immediately and got married in three months was now divorcing her husband of two years after immediately having two children. This because he was a "porn addict."

The entire family banded together to stop him from ever seeing his children except during short supervised visits. This being Utah all went as my family intended. The guy got screwed. I didn't really know him but I liked him a lot. I had thought from the beginning he was too good for my niece.

I was told point blank that this was necessary because porn addicts, and everyone who looks at porn is, became pedophiles.
Of course I contradicted them, but my opinion as a gay apostate doesn't carry a lot of weight with a TBM family.

I hate Mormonism. And, I don't separate the church from the people in it as easily as some do on they site. I will say it again. It takes two to tango and my TBM family know all the choreography. I have a brother who could hold his own with Oaks and Bednar. Why does my autocorrect always change Bednar to bender? Hmmmmnn.

HMM lets be honest.they are more lenient on sex offenders that homosexuals.

This explains why guys I would ordinarily if met outside would peg as gay (good-looking, never married) are so obviously flirting with me in church....

trying, I guess, to establish their hetero cred so as not to have that 'mark'....

Done, thank you for your insight about separating the church and the people, because the people do 'seem' superficially 'nice' but how can they be if they go along with this garbage?
