I am not sure we will ever know the reasons behind any change made by executive management. Each of the higher-ups seems to crave consensus publically, but I suspect many have their own agenda.

One thing is certain. The stated reason is probably a lie.

What disillusioned me was that there will no longer be two classes, one for beginners, and one (Doctrine) advanced, just one class for everyone, where the beginners will be totally lost and overwhelmed. Not even pretending to teach the basics.

Obvious to me they don't care about keeping any converts with this move.

What disillusioned me was that there was no advanced doctrine class for anybody. It was all milk and no meat. All the meat was never talked about after correlation because the meat was not faith promoting, and was anti-Mormon lies it seems.

I found Mormonism intellectually stagnating

Absolutely. The problem with a mixed class is that the old timers will be bored out of their minds, while the recent converts might think there is something there to be learned. Quite the opposite of what was suggested above.

A couple of guys named Talmage and McConkie tried to delve deep and they were hung as an example to others who thought that making sense of Mormonism required going deeper down the rabbit hole.

Don't kid yourself.
The topics and subjects will be up to the level of milk-toast and wet-noodles.

Maybe there is great thought about throwing everyone into one room. Perhaps the leaders anticipate that there will be no converts to fret over.

Maybe the converts will be tossed into primary. :D

Ha!

I actually asked the Gospel Principles class teacher--should I be in Primary? (I am a grown woman) because the classes on the fairy tales were so incomprehensible to me....

I've never sat in classes so long and understood so little...
