I mentioned a few days ago that I live sort of Rose Park adjacent in the north part of Salt Lake Valley. I follow a Facebook group for local residents, which can be useful. I posted a few weeks ago a stupid question about my portable Dustbuster thing. It seemed like it was not working the was it was before. A guy said if you want to bring it over, I live just a few blocks away, I’ve repaired lots of them. He did and didn’t charge me any money etc. That kind of stuff. Every city in the country I think has a similar group.

Anyway, a couple of days back, a woman posted this “My security cameras captured two LDS missionaries approaching my door and going through my mail, the audio suggests they were looking for a name of whoever lived at the house. They didn’t knock. They had the “missionary look” so I don’t think they were imposters. Is this a federal offense? Any idea why they would just want to know my name?” The boys in the video did look like missionaries but with my old man hearing, I wasn’t sure what they are saying.

Of course, it caused a commotion, the Mormons wondering how she knew they were Mormons and non members saying “call the post office, they’ll get arrested” and so forth. Someone said she had called the local missionaries and they said they would report to the mission president and make sure correct procedures were being used. I don’t think there’s been any resolution to date.

It went on until the last post today which said “Has anyone else notice the missionaries riding their bikes the wrong way on 1000 north?”

Lots of missionary defenders and lots of people who’ve tried to stop them from calling her and leaving notes in her mailbox. And like everything on Facebook, some really unpleasant name calling.

I do think the missionaries were in the wrong but I’m not an expert.

PS. Unrelated, I found a new album from Michael Nesmith; he was the musically talented guy in the Monkees from the 60’s. He’s been back to The Troubador in Los Angeles, 50 years after he was there with his band, Michael Nesmith & The First National Band Redux. Pretty good performance if you like that stuff.

It's really creepy that the missionaries were going through the woman's mail. I would help her by forwarding the name and address of the mission president to her. If she really wants to make an impression, she can cc the Post Office. Did you know that there are sworn Federal officers who work for the Post Office? I was introduced to two of them, and they don't play.

Several people wrote how it was a very serious crime, which I guess is well known.

As someone said, maybe and 18 year old boy doesn't know that kind of stuff since he's never lived anywhere except his parents house. I guess its time he found out.

I hope that camera record still exists.
Those mishes should be sent home 'dishonorably'

but, of course, we know Mormonites ONLY respect / obey laws they find convenient, don't we....

Someone in your Facebook group should go over and install a mailbox with a lock on it. They’re cheap and somewhat protect you from stolen mail. It may save you from identity theft. Everyone should at least do this.

Are you familiar with The Prison by Michael Nesmith?

I'm not familiar with but the description in Wiki sounds very interesting.

When I lived in Las Vegas, I went occasionally to a casino on the north end of town, a locals one, and they had some very nice artists playing, kind of past their popularity.

Michael Nesmith played there one night (mid 2000's) and it was free, which is even better. He just played mostly his own stuff and a couple of Monkee songs with a great band. It was lots of fun.

IDK of any LDS chapel having a (street) mailbox; mail is always(?) sent to the home of the Bp or SP.

many other churches have staff (Pastors, ministers, priests, secretaries, etc) who are present most days to collect & sort mail almost daily.
