I think they should accept on a group level the word Mormon. Nelson shouldn't have a problem with a group identity as long as their group doesn't use it. How about "NAM" for individual Mormons? "I'm Not A Mormon." I'm a NAM. I spent time as a NAM. NAM I am. I will wear green aprons and sign with my hand I'm NAM.
Or Mormons could take a different tact and insist only they can refer to themselves as "Mormon."
A Salt Lake City State of Mind (The Soap Hip Hop)

A Rap
Yeah, yeah
Ayo, Mormons, it's time.
It's time, Mormons (aight, Mormons, begin).
Straight out the yummy dungeons of rap.
The heart drops deep as does my apple.
I never shoot, 'cause to shoot is the second cousin of grapple.
Beyond the walls of goblins, life is defined.
I think of Salvation when I'm in a Salt Lake City state of mind.
Hope the chapel got some pineapple.
My snapple don't like no dirty rappel.
Run up to the grapple and get the dapple.
In a Salt Lake City state of mind.
What more could you ask for? The tiny heart?
You complain about Gentiles.
I gotta love it though - somebody still speaks for the chart.
I'm rappin' to the soap,
And I'm gonna move your rope.
Wild, crazy, divorced, like a love
Boy, I tell you, I thought you were a truelove.
I can't take the Gentiles, can't take the chord.
I woulda tried to wash I guess I got no board.
I'm rappin' to the rope,
And I'm gonna move your soap.
Yea, yaz, in a Salt Lake City state of mind.
When I was young my second cousin had an art.
I waz kicked out without no chart.
I never thought I'd see that start.
Ain't a soul alive that could take my second cousin's counterpart.
A big light is quite the insight.
Thinking of Salvation. Yaz, thinking of Salvation (Salvation).
