The Rome abortion looks incredibly out of place compared to the edifices in the Vatican. Sort of like a really horrible musical mistake. I doubt it's going to get much business.

The rendering of the Puerto Rico mistake looks like a rehash of the Zollikofen (Swiss) mess with a slightly different facade.

Dear God.

"Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, center, presents gifts of a Christus figurine to President Marcello De Vito, left, president of the Rome City Council, and President Giovanni Caudo, president of the Third Municipality of Rome, on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019."

LOL!

"We needed to have a temple in the Eternal City because it is a symbol of eternity."

Cause. Just because.

Wow! The Christus flanked by statues scared me.

I am recently back from an extended stay in Italy, much of it in Rome. It is amusing to hear the Italians who live in the vicinity of the edifice " The Toaster Temple " , ( think of those sleek art-deco design toasters with the curved tops ). Fortunately it is nowhere close to the beautiful historic center of Rome but stand outside of town along the stradale orientale ( east circular highway) with the chief tax agency of Italy office center on one side and a large Ikea furniture on the other ! Somehow curious neighbors for a Temple.

The statues are replicas of the ones which line the chapel in Vor Frue Kirke in Copenhagen, which houses the original Christus statue.

ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS

For a building in Italy? For 6,000 members in the country?

That is 16 thousand dollars + a member for the building - that most of them will never visit once it is actually in business.

It's a tax shelter to hide church wealth in real estate holdings.
