I played in a saxophone quartet Friday night. Not my usual jazz playing so it was quite challenging. I continue to take lessons from professional players at the university. This music was live and most of the mistakes were mine. Sigh... They continue to tolerate me there. Good to be retired.

Feb. 19th I am playing bass clarinet with a wind ensemble. If more than 2 or 3 want to hear that, I will play it back in a few days after the performance.

This is very nice. What is the piece?

I am no musician, but to my ear, this is very well done!

As it was playing, I was "seeing" film sequences in my mind, where this would be right at the peak of the most effective musical language to get across the point of that film sequence. (Charlie Chaplin, first and foremost--but it really does speak to a number of modern and contemporary life themes.)

Cool! Thanks for posting that. I am a big fan of saxophone and love sax ensembles. I think they rank at the top of ensembles in which all the instruments are in the same family. Very few blend as well.

You are the not the only post-mo saxophonist. I always wanted a bass saxophone, so after my tbm ex-wife and I split and sold the house I bought one with the proceeds of the sale! My way of celebrating survival from the morg.

Whoa - a bass saxophone. That is quite rare. The ensemble for our next performance has a bass saxophone. It was over 20k. It has a nice earthy sound beyond that of a baritone sax.
