Also, what my pediatrician's nurse said when holding my infant son for the first time, "You're not raising a boy. You're raising a man." (Okay, that's parenting 101. Also fits in the post-Mormon phase!) ;o)

And, "Still waters run deep. Unless it's a mud puddle." (Me at age 9. I still kinda like it.)

Seriously though, It has been my experience that being nice to people is more satisfying than being a jerk to them. And trying to be a positive influence and a force for good in the lives of those in your circle is very gratifying. Much more so than worrying about some pie in the sky "heaven" fairy-tale construct and worrying about if I measure up.

The best word of wisdom I received was someone on this Board (I have to look up to remind myself who said it) and that was that it will get better with:
Time
Space
and Distance.

I chant that to myself every weekend to help myself break the bad habit of thinking about the cult on Sundays. It really helps!!!

It fits my life perfectly.

That comes close to one of mine, Cl2. I used to share this one in RS to a tone-deaf room: (whenever sharing something profound or asking a deeply profound question, it was more often than not met with glazed over eyeballs staring back from emotionless faces that were non-expressive on anything to do with the heart.)

would do the same. What I love is those who act as though they "get it" or are trying to, and then turn around and do the same thing to me (like my aunt).
