I really do appreciate those posters who return and report on Conference. I could not sit through all those lies and PR hype! It's boring enough to put anyone to sleep--yet so negative and upsetting that it jolts you awake. "Whaaaaat? How do they get away with being so fake?"
Even reading newspaper reports about it makes me ill. Lately the DN and Trib have been referring to the cult as "the global religion" and "the faith" and other complimentary terms of endearment, along with its long, tedious name. The Mormons never tell it like it is, so why would I expect the Mormon church to properly identify itself. It's as slippery and creepy as its leaders. Like slime, it morphs into different shapes, but it still is slime, nonetheless. I'm disgusted by it.
I don't think the Mormons watch conference anymore. The restaurants, malls, grocery stores and freeways in our Utah town are always more crowded than usual, during conference hours. Maybe the sounds of conference and the tedium drives Mormons out of their homes!
Anyway, thanks, RFM, for keeping us informed! The few Mormons in my family refuse to talk about religion with us apostates--which works out well for us, as we aren't harassed and preached-at all the time.
Why didn't they wait until conference to announce their policy change about children of gay couples?
Why did they announce it just a couple days before conference when conference is supposed to be the mechanism for communicating to the members? Isn't making announcements about change coming from leadership the whole purpose for conference?
Did they want to avoid the shock and whip lash reaction at conference and give it time to sink in first?
Did they want to avoid having all the negative press during conference? Do they prefer to have their members hear it from the news first now?
My guess is that they will talk about how compassionate and benevolent they are for this change and nothing about being wrong or issuing apologies.
Easier for the future leadership to claim they were speaking as men if it came out in a press release, rather than over a pulpit, maybe? Difference between policies and procedures vs. revelation and doctrine?
don't worry, you will probably have more fun working today than waiting for these losers to make the announcement. i put myself though torture for the morning session and realized soon after it started they were going to save the shocking news til tomorrow.
there are a lot of members sitting there that may not have heard the news yet and probably would not be there had they known.
they buffered the shock by letting it out early but i think they will save it til the last session tomorrow. maybe or maybe not.
btw, rusty was escorted in by oaks and i think eyring. rusty was holding on. for someone that claimed he was skiing just a couple or so years ago i think his skiing days are over if he needs help standing up without support. whatever.
That's interesting about Rusty....maybe he's been touring the world a little too rigorously?
I believe they won't mention the LGBTQ reversal because the less they tell the minions the less they have to explain. They've let it out of the bag through the news, and that's enough for those minions. Kind of like the essays. They could have easily announced those at GC, but doing it the way they did, well, still some of the bishops seem to not know they exist.
Yep, the cult spends its time manipulating its strategy, conning, working out how its lies will be spun, and counting its money - NOT talking to God.
Heavens NO! Why would the one true church (supposedly) on the earth care about its members?
