To go with the quarantined Scientologist measles cruise ship.

The piece starts at the 4:28 mark.

That guy is an overpaid hack. Probably doesn't even write his own scripts.

No, he doesn't write his own scripts, he's got a team of writers. That makes him a "hack"? Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Leno, Letterman, Carson, O'Brien, didn't write their own scripts either. P.S. your local and National newscasters don't write their own stuff either. I guess they're all hacks. Trevor Noah speaks 7 languages. He's a smart guy with a penchant for calling out Bullshit. Which explains why you don't like him.

I forget where I watched it, but after an hour of time with Mr. Noah's review of his past, including relatives and other South African comics, I was quite impressed.

You can use the appellation "hack" all you want, but the facts are out there to disprove its accuracy.

Yep and that's why none of them are that funny and their humor comes over forced and lazy.

How does being a polyglot make you a good comedian? If that was the case, Scandinavians would be among the funniest people on Earth. Now, I know some Scandis are funny, but all of them?

In some parts of the world, it's normal to speak more than one language. If you speak Hindi, Urdu, Gujarti, Punjabi and English (as a number of people in India and Pakistan do) that doesn't make you a comedy genius, does it?

I have qualifications in several languages, does that alone make me funny?

He's a smart guy
> with a penchant for calling out Bullshit.

Or a lazy partisan hack, with formulaic material, predictable jokes and a penchant for a big paycheck.

"Oh look, the other political party did something."
(Canned laughter)
"Isn't it funny, they vote for the other party?"
(More canned laughter)

In the meantime, some intern is probably writing this stuff for free, because "it will look good on your resumé."

> Which
> explains why you don't like him.

No, I dislike him because like a lot of these hosts, he isn't actually funny. You can hear better banter in a downtown bar. For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of Alex Jones, Glenn Beck etc who are equally lazy. But I find their unintentional humor funnier than the bland pap regurgitated by Noah & Co. There's a Noah, I wish had gone down with his ship.

So far you haven't demonstrated the slightest comedic ability, or even a sense of humor. :-)

So, back to the Space Mormons thing...

I think if JS had lived in our day he would've produced terrible Star Wars fan fiction and a cult very much like Scientology.

Much like Trevor Noah, then, eh?

He's about as talented as that other Englishman, Oliver. (Yes, I'm aware Noah started off life as a Saffie.)

I am not a Noah fan. John Stewart was the best. Both have/had a staff of writers that were brilliant. Neither is a hack. Trevor Noah had a long history of doing his own stand-up in south Africa before joining the Daily Show.

HH =)

He has a whole freakin team of writers. What late night, or any host of a talk show doesn't? But he is brilliant. It took me awhile to warm up to him after John Stewart and took him awhile to relax and be himself. But he is absolutely brilliant. And no amount of good writing can make a person be able to do the spot-on accents and impersonations that he does.

Bill Mauher always says the only thing crazier than the Mormon Religion is Scientology!

Look up the Ætherius Society. It makes both of these look pedestrian.

They used to have camp outs in the Wilds where they would try and summon the saucer people, and speak in gibberish - it's Saturnian dontcha know? - saying that the Grand Council of the Galaxy had just averted a missile strike on Earth.

Haha. Good one. I hope every Mormon out there here's this.

Of course they will be offended that he didn't say "Space Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." But that is why the Mormon church is just a joke and not true comedy.

Of course we all miss Jon but I understand why he moved on. His deadpan intensity began to wane and he began the search for a worthy successor.

It wasn't apparent at first but now I think his choice was inspired (heh heh).

Trevor is certainly well versed in Yank culture but from an international perspective that gives extra insight.

His linguistic skill mentioned above also include a nuanced mastery of the diverse English dialects:

His Mandela impression is on point. But he doesn't even attempt Irish or Italian. He also has a bizarre notion that New Zealand and Australian accents are more distinctive from each other than Scotland and Ireland.... There is a bigger difference between the accents of Cork and Dublin in Ireland than between NZ and Oz. (I've spent a lot of time in those places and worked beside people from them... His impressions of Aussies and Kiwis aren't that great.) Canadian English is more distinct from the US variety than Aussie from Kiwi.

The Northern Irish accent is a bit like some Scottish accents, but you could never mistake someone from Dublin for someone from Glasgow if you had listened to those accents much.

Mormons were already in space long before this, just as weird. Anyone remember the LDSS Nauvoo? Good thing they did do it what they did.

Okay, that's funny.

Although someone needs to educate Trevor about Mormons and space.

You only need to get hold of the Book of Abraham to.find that material. Or Skousen.
