I don't associate with Mormons on face-book, but I finally got an advertisrment that deals with Mormonized junk. The actual product deals with building blocks to make a Mormon temple (like lego blocks). The set only covers the exterior of the building. The interior is left open so young morgbots will have to create their own interiors. The set should also come with silly costumes and a squeeze ball so they can start practicing their handshakes with a strong grip. Each rendering costs 80 bucks a pop, but there's a special for 160 that the generous MLM will throw in an extra building for free.

I'm not going to mention the actual name because I don't want to give them internet traffic but it's a play on Brigham Young's name.

Anybody else seeing this?

Years ago when I was a teenager planning on going to BYU a dear uncle kept saying to me, "Bring 'em Young". None of us really had any contact with Mormons or knew much about Mormonism but my Marine uncle had heard enough to use that phrase and knew what it meant.

Too bad I didn't realize.

Yeah, that's the one in your title.

I guess another game that would please the fossils would be Morg City. A game where you plan important spiritual centers for your growing church.

-Build a shopping mall, apartments and office space that is surrounded by growing meetinghouses, stake centers and cookie-cutter temples.

of the Logan temple. No lie. But $80 and you get a free one if you pay $160. Am I reading that correctly? So not free? Or is it if you order 2, you get an extra free?

I know--I'm stupid, but I know she'd love it.

But not $80. I won't spend that much on one.

Yes, order two and get one free for 160. I'm sorry that I flubbed that up.

But I think it's a prearranged packet of which temples you get for 160. It's a marketing strategy that obligates people to buy ALL of them. Well, some Mormons have a ton of $ to burn. I was never one of them.

I totally get where you're coming from on this. There are fun things that could be done with this rather scary toy, but A) $80 is too much to pay for it and B) I don't think I want to patronize those who are marketing this stuff.

I like the way you people think! An even more accurate idea would be a "Front Yard Build 'Em Young" excavating set, where the kids first tear out Mom and Dad's fancy flowers and 100-year old trees and shrubs, and dig a huge hole in the lawn, in preparation for the block shopping mall.

I tore up my Mom's indoor and outdoor plants using my heavy duty Tonka toys as a 5 or 6 year old and I had the living shit beat out of me. On subsequent behavior issues, she kept her word and rounded up all but two of my toys and made a donation to DI.

I grew up making cars, trucks and airplanes out of wood. I had a helluva of an imagination. And Mom loved it too! It was cheap and if I was insubordinate, she would open up the wood burning stove and toss it into the burning fire. And believe me, she did!
