Yeah, I know... not really news (or surprising) anymore.

https://kutv.com/news/local/lds-church-leaders-failed-to-report-man-who-confessed-to-making-child-porn-docs-say

"A Utah man turned himself into law enforcement for viewing, making and distributing child pornography after his local church leaders failed to report it after his confession, court documents state"

"While serving in the Dominican Republic, Alyk told his mission president about the crimes. Alyk was immediately sent home from his mission and went before a disciplinary council with local church leaders in June 2017. He told investigators he disclosed all of the information and details of the crimes to both his mission president and the council. According to Alyk, the church didn't report the incident to law enforcement, according to TTF."

Maybe he told his Court of Lovey-Dovey that he was sorry, and that hopefully he wouldn't do it again?

And why did he turn himself in? Interesting question, que no? Maybe someone was trying to hold him hostage to his past?

Now read this about the same individual, based on the assumption that there's only one man using this name in Syracuse, Utah:

http://www.theutahfilmawards.com/the-visitors/

For those who worry that there's no 's' in the http:// here's the spirit quote:

"The creative minds behind this short are writer Nick Patch and director Ben Alyk who is from Syracuse, Utah. He is definitely on his way to making a name for himself. He loves sci-fi and fantasy. He loves the artsy side of film. His director statement is “Everyone’s a cynic, everyone’s a critic. Cynicism can kill creativity, so don’t make what others want, make what you want.” The creativity of the whole crew shines through on this short film, produced by Ben Alyk and Joshua Heinze. They made a really great team and brought together an enjoyable film for all audiences to watch."

Why would a church created by outlaws cooperate with law enforcement?

They repeatedly have little or no concern for victims of abuse or violence, it's always about the perp.

Saw this on another forum:

Trespass on church property? They'll call the cops. Shout during conference? They'll have you charged with a crime. Start a petition to urge that kids in the church be protected? They'll excommunicate you. Confess to making child porn? They won't even call the cops.

So true. And they are the law abiding organization that trumps individual's freedoms to call them on their ridiculous "votes."

Yeah, I think I saw that presented as a graphic. It made a great point.

There are echoes of the old financial quip that if you owe the bank $200, you are in trouble; but if you owe the bank $200 million, the bank is in trouble because it cannot afford to foreclose on you and suffer the loss.

The dynamic for the church is similar. Minor "sins" can be handled brutally because they don't threaten the church: ordinary members suffer. But major crimes, like PH holders making child pornography or the church's having protected child abusers, threaten the church's reputation and hence must be suppressed.

As a result a pubescent deacon faces greater punishment for natural experimentation than a serial predator like Joseph Bishop.

Great analogy. Packer titled his pamphlet "To Young Men Only."

I guess old Mormon leader men get a pass on pumping their little factories.

I will never understand the mind of someone that watches cp if at the age of 14. Usually, you are looking at 17 to 22 year olds you'd want to fantasize about and going down the bases.

I just don't get it.

He should of just taken that secret to his grave.
