Canned talks and lots of inflections in their voices. Politicians do the same thing. Both trying to get you to open your wallet and waste your resources on them.
We do have it on record that Rustipants’ first effort to condemn the word “mormon” to the dustbin of history was quite publicly slapped down, almost two decades ago.
And who could blame the minions who labor in anonymity for the church making sure they keep a tight rein on access to the word “mormon” when it comes to the internet.
I disagree, politicians have a spark and generally can fire fire off some entertaining rhetoric with a stump speech; these guys are *literally* reading a text they have prepared that very rarely sounds like the way a normal person speaks. They sound like a 1oth grader carefully reading a speech assigned to them. Now, I agree that the actual content is about the same, i.e. politicians say they have a new plan that's just a re-hash of old ideas, and the TSCC honchos repeat the same ol' same ol'...
politicians get ahead by their wits, and being likable, sounding off dog whistles, but GAs get ahead by kissing butt to older men. Politicians are alphas, GA's probably not.
IMO, there is very little difference between politicians and GA's. Both of them lie, cheat, steal, and make promises they know that they aren't about to keep. Even if a newbie is innocent as could be, the good ole' boys club will soon have them towing the line.
As funny as are pointy hats and bizarre robes and backward collars and weird jewelry and etc, at least these mark out the person for what they are ostensibly about, something other worldly.
Mormon religious figures mark themselves out for what they are about too, while donning the business suit: business.
Well, maybe mormons are just being honest, come to think of it.
Q: why can't a rebel GA show up for his GC speech 'talk' looking / dressed like Mr. Rogers?
A: Because it would cause a riot.
Once I set up the folding chairs for PH in the gym er... 'Cultural Hall' (do they still use that term???)...
instead of the traditional leadership pattern, I arranged the chairs IN A CIRCLE ... you should have seen the look on their faces when they walked into the room! Priceless!!!!
What would you expect in the Good Ole US of A? The entire country was founded by preachers. Even the African American political tradition comes out of preaching. MLK jr was a straight up preacher - a good one to be fair.
My opinion: they all actually sound like a bunch of corporate CEOs, who have attributes of psychopathy and hence no interest in finding out what their employees would need to find fulfillment in life.
