This link is on a current thread on another [not related to Mormonism] board.

I know nothing about any of this, but think it is probably of great interest here:

I don't rule out a inter-LDS-Fundamentalist possibility, but applying Occam's Razor, it seems that native Mexican elements had more recent and pressing reasons. Both cartel (or cartel-affiliated) gangsters and local farmers have grievances on the Le Baron communities, the latter because of Le Baron appropriate of land and water. Those closest in motive, time and geography are the first rank of suspects.

The article linked is short on detail, but long on speculation. But in the crazy world of LDS and LDS-splinter groups, anything's possible.

The posted article does not establish any real relationship between the recent massacre in Mexico and the murders by the LeBaron group in Texas in the 80s. It just talks about the criminal activities of Ervil LeBaron's group. The only tie to the recent massacre is this sentence:
"A fundamentalist Mormon community in Mexico is linked to a triple-homicide that happened in Houston more than three decades ago".

The link is simply that the victims in Mexico originated from the same mormon splinter group as Ervil LeBaron. The article provides no direct causal connection between the murders in Houston and the recent Mexican massacre.

It would be like someone linking the murder of a great-great-great grandchild of John D. Lee or Isaac Haight to the MMM.

the origin of violence is in the mind, same as love; it's a choice.

Sometimes it can be a 'choice' that you never consider not making, with only 'timing' being something to think about.

I am wondering if the women killed were trying to escape their cult. That actually makes the most sense because it's the men that fear the women running away to escape an abusive life.

I thought it was established to attend some prior planned social event.

They needed Mad Max driving a tanker truck to draw off the bad guys.

The LeBaron group has been stealing water. Possible revenge killings.
