“Corporation Soul” might be a good one since Romney had the revelation that corporations are people too.

He is referring to Evan Stephens. He tried to keep it under control, but everybody knew.

They're going to be adding more sometime in the near future. There's a committee putting together a new hymnal--my aunt sent me a hymn she wrote earlier this spring to look over before she submitted it to church HQ.

Maybe they'll put the rest of the verses back in "A Mighty Fortress." Ha ha ha! No they won't.

Here's the announcement, from June 2018: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/church/news/church-announces-plans-for-new-hymnbook-and-childrens-songbook?lang=eng

Complete with the usual pablum from one of the 12['s ghost writer].

It was Called to Serve and probably Donkie's Believe in Christ.

This article states that 6,000 hymns were submitted for the 1985 green puke inspired hymnal. I doubt that on a practical matter. Many of the newest hymns that were added were not only difficult to sing, but to play as well.

It also stated that the contributors' names were scratched off as to not "influence" the committee. Pure BS!

Did the old classics suddenly become embarrassing?

They don't want youngsters asking what "hie to Kolob" means?

They don't want folks going off on "doctrinal" tangents after singing this:

In the heavens are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare.
Truth is reason: truth eternal
tells me I've a mother there.

When I leave this frail existence,
When I lay this mortal by,
Father, Mother, may I meet you
in your royal courts on high?

+++++++

The last time I visited a Mormon worship service the "new" hymns made my skin craw. Dead. No identifiable melody. Insipid lyrics.

I have an elderly TBM aunt who is as devoted as anyone can be to the church. I've heard her come close to using profanity when she rants about how much she misses the old hymns and can't stand the crappy new hymns.
