This was just a joke. I don't think i could live with myself if i was knowingly screwing over millions for billions. I actually have somewhat of a heart these days i think. I know those leaders are as cold as ice with no conscience at all.

Remember scrooge mcduck from ducktales going into his vault and diving into his coins and money. When i first read about the 100 billion this is exactly what i pictured. The church leaders swimming in their vault of cash.

Hahaha, definitely. They're hoarding it all in the City Creek center. Hiding money in a shopping mall to evade taxes, tisk tisk.

You have it exactly backwards. Shopping malls are taxed. Churches are not. Hiding mall income as church income would be a way to avoid taxes.

And nobody keeps that kind of money as actual cash. Not even the government has that much cash on hand.

Everyone has the ability to lie within them. I just have to say "oh i just got a revelation from god" before any sentence.

This occurred many years ago in Milwaukee. I was at a furniture store and the associate started talking to me as he wanted to share a funny story. He mentioned that just before I arrived, a man came in wanting 300 folding chairs and an adding machine because he was starting a church.

Isn't that pretty much what L Ron Hubbard did in creating Scientology?

For that matter, John Oliver created a church in 2015 just to show how easy it was. "Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption".

You're absolutely right, BrotherOfJerryButNotJared.

Quotes, and their origins, fascinate me. I had heard "Writing Science Fiction at a penny a word is no way make money. If a guy wants to get rich, he should start a religion" quote "attributed" to EL-ron (as I like to call him).

But the "Church" of Scientology* said it was a myth. I did some research, and he apparently said it, with various phrasings, several times, including in public at a New Jersey sci-fi convention.

Lot's Wife will be impressed to know that there are multitude primary and secondary sources.

*Not to be confused with Christian Science, of course. Both are very wrong, but for very different reasons.

Hubbard definitely saw the writing on the wall on how to get rich. But can you really live with yourself by starting a fake religion if you have a conscience? I don't think you can if you have any heart left in your body.

Why is a long subject, involving biology/neurology, philosophy, religion, and more. I think it's safe to say EL-ron lacked a conscience.

BUT it is rather shocking when you hear about the money the church has and rather sickening considering where some of that money comes from. I really didn't think they had THAT MUCH. No wonder Rusty can travel all over with his entourage. Or is it Wendy's entourage?

I've had too much on my mind lately to remember that I just hope the man dies soon. That smile of his that somehow creeps into the news here in Utah or someone posts it on fb needs to go away. But then Oaks will be prophet. Hell, I'd prefer Oaks' face to Rusty's.

You're right, caffiend and warrior, I'm sure neither Joseph Smith or el-Ron had a conscience. The movie "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" has background on el-Ron and why his wife separated from him.

As for Joseph Smith he had all the signs of a person with Psychopathic personality disorder. The specialists who research the disorder have a test called the PCL-R that they use to diagnose it. The diagnosis is based on life behaviors. One of these behaviors is not being faithful to one's spouse/ significant other. And that means more than just one act of unfaithfulness. A psychopath typically has serial unfaithfulness.

Here's a 6 min clip from a documentary on psychopaths (it was made in 2011) http://www.fisheadmovie.com/watch1

Among the top professions chosen by psychopaths are "Clergy Person"...
