Your resolved issue can be someone else's real and present battle, new to them. That's why RFM is here.

And those of us who think their shop-worn issue is in the past, will unexpectedly have their family member marry a fanatic Mormon, and be banned from their wedding. Or a grandchild will
"choose" to be baptized. For me and my family in the Morridor, the stalking and shunning continue endlessly. We can't buy any issues, until the Mormon cult disappears. Even then, these are childhood traumas, that will still need to be worked-on. Some of us have needed professional help with past Mormon abuse.

Maybe circumcision is no longer an issue for you, because you have already been circumcised, and can't undo it. Maybe you plan to never have baby boys of your own, or grandsons, or great-grandsons. Maybe you aren't concerned about your nephews, or the neighbors' babies, etc.

Congratulations on resolving your issues. You can still help us here on RFM, and give advice on HOW you recovered.

One persons shop-worn issue is another persons light in the darkness of Mormonism.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I fought for God before I turned on him and killed him.

I doubt that any Further Light or Knowledge concerning circumcision is going to be revealed from the GAs, from God herself (thru Wendy and/or Russ), this is a subject (not a genuine issue) that has no movement.


Perhaps if RfM did a Table of Contents or Index of threads about circumcision & other like threads ... that would avoid so much rumination regarding similar subjects - matters.

It is an important topic because it involves a religious practice. If a religion can dictate ANYTHING about genitals and people defend it, I think it is very relevant to what people allow religion to do in their lives.

It's one thing to make a personal choice or medical decision. It's quite another to do it for a religion.

It is one of the most extreme religious rituals that deserves notice and occasional discussion.

Like that would make any difference. Threads on circumcision are extremely easy to find. Just do a search on "circumcision". It's not like the word crops up in any other context.

I have to agree that it is the most hotly contested triviality on RFM, and Further Light and Knowledge is not likely to be forthcoming.

As far as I know, no religions other than Islam or Judaism take a stand one way or the other, and none of the 3,217 people running for US President have a position on the subject, and the chances are near zero that there will be a law either forbidding or mandating the procedure (except maybe in Iceland (against), which considers itself cutting edge on issues like this (pun intended)).

But it continues to be an issue here. Even this discussion about how it should not be an issue is an issue. I fear we are doomed to recurring flare ups of circumcision threads.

Just be grateful there are no Einstein quotes on circumcision. (Please, dear God, let there be no quotes!)
