All my life I've feared. Only 3% of my worries materialized. I still fear.

Are you anxious, or calm?

Has un-tethering from the cult made you a better person?

Thankfully, I am quite comfortable with getting older. I had feared it, earlier. I'm loving it.

That is weird, isn’t it? You grow up in an apocalyptic death cult waiting to be vaporized any year now. That doesn’t happen, but instead you grow up and lose your fear of death. There’s something about having loved ones who are gone.

Maybe after being manipulated and abused with fear and loathing by the Mormon church, losing my fear and self loathing was easy. I’m sure there are things I’m still afraid of, but I’m not a neurotic basket case like so many Mormons.

I spent most of my life "knowing" what happens to us after death. Now, I freely admit that I don't know. The most likely outcome is that when I die, that's it--no more me (physically, mentally, spiritually, or any other way).

When I was "sure" I feared death (knowing that this life is my one and only chance to determine my eternal fate). Now that I admit that I don't know I'm dramatically more at peace.

I'm not sure what my biggest fear is now, but I'm sure it's not eternal punishment.

I don't fear death but i am not anxious to challenge death or push for it like before which is key.

What did I fear before?

Just a tad bit fearful of aging into my 80's and beyond. Early 50's now, but concerned about potential health problems, incapacitation, exploitation by folks who target the elderly, etc.

Yeah, I hope the end is sudden and unexpected (and while I’m still mentally and physically relatively functional).

Years ago I had a wood floor installed in my kitchen family room. I liked it so much that for but a moment, I entertained the thought of spraying my naked self with pledge and rolling all over it!

But I opted for a mop and the floor cleaner I picked up at Home Depot.

I take it as an article of faith that no man has ever refused to go out with a woman because he thought her to be too prurient... and told her so.

I take it as an article of faith that you won't be wandering around with your pants down in a place where I might catch you.....or slip on the the Brylcreem trail.

Pruriently small.

Maybe the Brylcreem is for his ear hair?

Fear itself?

Actually I fear my grandchildren will be too young to remember me if I die.

I remember next to nothing about family members that died when I was younger than age 5.

An excellent observation.

Immortality is what our children and perhaps grandchildren remember of us, what we gave them.

I believe in salvation and the Kingdom of Heaven (not the CK). But sometimes I do doubt, and wonder if the atheists might be right--that after this there is nothing afterwards, just the annihilation of the self, and complete extinction of all consciousness.

I'd be really bummed out if that came to pass!

Doesn't it make sense that if the annihilation of the personality was the final gift that birth gave us, you would NOT be bummed?

You simply wouldn't be anything!

Just like all the rest of us! True equality!

But at least many of you would live on on Facebook... Maybe Facebook is ghawd! Finally, a manmade ghawd performing miracles of commerce!

So yes, I was being facetious.

I'd classify Fakebook as a servant of Satan. And there, I'm only mostly facetious.

The Satan that, a little or a lot, resides in most of us.

"Oh, Universe, hear the words of my mouth! Notice me! Pretend that I matter!", said almost everyone on Social Media, including Exmormon(dot)org.

I notice his ear hair looks very well coiffed. And anyone with an ear hair pillow definitely matters!

I recommend leaving some writing or video or audio behind for them ... just stories of your life or things you want to pass on to them. This is easier to do these days than ever before

Eight foot tall, 300 pound, baby-eating spiders invading the Earth from outer space would unite mankind like you wouldn't believe! The use of adjectives to describe the human fighting next to you wouldn't be a thing.

I was raised by a mother who worried, who was raised by my deaf grandmother who worried. All my siblings WORRY. My younger brother said after my mom died, at least she doesn't have to worry any longer.

I don't fear death. I did as a mormon. I do fear leaving my children behind when I die. I don't fear becoming a drunk lying in a gutter like they told me I would become if I left mormonism. I don't fear my husband leaving me, as he already did. I don't fear losing my job as I already did a year ago (my job of 20 years) and I am on SS now.
